My husband and I are debating between [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] for our first baby (girl)!
We love the uniqueness of [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and the gender-neutral sound… but are also gravitating to [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] (or vivi as a cute nickname).
We are thinking the middle name will be rose after a family member.
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]… HELP
These are so different! I like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] better, and I’m guessing most people would agree since [name_u]Vivien[/name_u]/[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is more popular. [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] is cute.
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] doesn’t seem as feminine to me, and it doesn’t seem as classic, but there is a blogger who used that name for a daughter so it’s not too out there. (dooce.com)
I would advise you to think about other names you like for girls and boys. I say this because the style parents choose for their firstborn often dictates the style they name any subsequent children. [name_m]Just[/name_m] somehting to mull over. Are you drawn towards unisex/boyish/surname type names ([name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]) and do you like feminine but strong female names that have depth and history of usage ([name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]). I like both names but I prefer [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is a classic and timeless choice. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is more unique perhaps but it has “Trendy” written all over it. Have you considered two mn’s ([name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]?).
