Help! Masculine middle for Viggo?

Hello all! I’m back for your expertise  hope I’m not annoying y’all yet!!

So I’m narrowing down a name for Arabella Snow’s brother. My short list included-

Axl
Viggo
Whittaker
Fox
Atlas
Kasper
Yves
Storm
Wilder
River

My hubby loves to hate names. You can imagine my delight. He hates Kasper and Atlas (sad news!!) and feels Yves and Storm are useless even in the middle because he sees them as feminine. I’m sad to let Yves go but I guess I can see it. Fox and wilder would probably be middles. He’s ok with them. We haven’t discussed River much.

Viggo and Whittaker are our top two contenders at this point. I love Viggo Storm but he thinks it’s girly. Can you guys help a sister out? What do you like in the middle that’s fresh yet masculine?

Viggo Fox?
Viggo Wilder?
Viggo Ezra?
Viggo Mars?
Viggo River?

I would REALLY love your opinions because I’m super lost. Nothing seems right yet and my ideas are beginning to seem like old news.

Or is Viggo just gross for an American boy?

Sorry for the novel!!! And THANK YOU!!

Out of your choices, I like [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] the best. [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_u]River[/name_u] would be my second choice.

I think the actor [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] Mortensen brought the name into the light here in the US, so I don’t think anyone would classify it as “gross”. At worst, you might get accused of being massive Tolkien fans or told it’s a weird name by people who don’t know the association, but that seems pretty tame.

Good luck!

I do like both of those middles. I’m glad you don’t hate it. I’m catching some heat already lol

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] better with [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]?

That sucks! People can be so rude about baby name choices

I like [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] better because they both give me a romantic vibe, whereas [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] doesn’t give me much of a feeling at all, except for reminding me of the people I’ve known previously with it as a first name/surname. It’s not bad, but it wouldn’t be what I would choose personally to go with [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]. All that said, the most important question to ask is how does the name make you feel? If you can imagine a baby [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m], then that matters most of all.

It’s not love. It’s just ok, like you said. It’s just an easy one to go with because I don’t have to put up a fight and it’s not a bad choice. But I don’t find myself day dreaming about [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] like a do [name_m]Viggo[/name_m]. There are just SO many choices. I want to make sure I get it right. Romantic is a great quality!!

Anyone else have any suggestions? Or input on the name? I’ve gotten some good feedback on it on my other post, but I know there are lots of members here

I don’t think [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] is gross at all. I like both your names but [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] is a little more my style. I do like the nickname whit though. Both go well with [name_f]Arabella[/name_f].
I like [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_m]Rivers[/name_m] the best.

I like [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] best.

With something as strong, daring and “warlike” as [name_m]Viggo[/name_m], I think a very unusual, bold, macho word name like [name_m]Fox[/name_m], [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] or [name_u]Mars[/name_u] is a little bit of overkill. Plus, [name_u]Mars[/name_u] is the god of war and that’s a whole lotta war for one short combo! Although [name_u]River[/name_u] is softer, I still feel like it’s just a little bit too much/out there with [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] in the first spot.

[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is still strong and unusual, but it feels much more established, traditional and… well… “namey”, which I think you need with something like [name_m]Viggo[/name_m]. I understand you wanting to choose something bold and masculine, but I think there’s a fine line between choosing a name which is strong and striking, and one which just feels a little violent/machist.

[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is my all time favorite name, and I agree with you 100%, but my good friend used it for her girl. She doesn’t mind if I use it, but now when I say the name I can just hear her yelling for her daughter. Our kids are friends and when I tell my daughter we could name the new baby [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] she gets confused. I’m not sure I could make it work. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]-like suggestions? Or what about [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m]? That may be a mouth full…

Anyone else have any suggestions or comments on [name_m]Viggo[/name_m]?

I like [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_u]Mars[/name_u] - that made me think, how about [name_u]Mercury[/name_u]? I love [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] as a middle!

I’ve never considered [name_u]Mercury[/name_u]! I’ll have to keep searching for some astronomy related middles
