Hi, so…I am drawn to the name [name_f]Willa[/name_f] however I don’t feel like I appreciate it as I should. I find it almost a great name. I love [name_u]Willow[/name_u] but not [name_m]William[/name_m] and I feel [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is more in the [name_m]William[/name_m] category in my mind at the moment. BUT I feel it deserves more love.
If you love [name_f]Willa[/name_f], please tell me why. (There are a lot of writers called [name_f]Willa[/name_f] that I’m too ignorant of, I think…)
What’s your favourite [name_f]Willa[/name_f] combo?
I’m with you on [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. I love everything about it, except the name itself, which I just like.
Willa [name_f]Cather[/name_f] is a great connection. It’s got that strong, quietly quirky vintage vibe. It’s simple and travels well. It’s feeling uncommon but fashionable at the moment.
You could potentially use [name_u]Willow[/name_u] as a pet name? Or [name_u]Billie[/name_u], since [name_u]Billy[/name_u] comes from [name_m]William[/name_m].

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]Solstice[/name_u]
Hmm, it’s hard to explain why I love it. It’s wholesome and pretty and yet it’s got a touch of tomboyishness to it that I like. And it’s quite unusual. It seems less trendy than [name_u]Willow[/name_u] to me - it’s certainly less popular. And, yes, it feels literary on account of [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Cather[/name_f], which is a huge plus for me. It just feels like a sunny, light, fresh name and I love that a [name_f]Willa[/name_f] could be called [name_m]Will[/name_m] or even [name_u]Billie[/name_u] as a nickname. Some combos I like are:
Willa [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

I probably prefer [name_u]Willow[/name_u] but [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is so sweet. I love the middle name [name_u]Kit[/name_u] for a girl or a boy and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is such a nice combo.
Yes! [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is amazing. I think @TDFM has hit the nail on the head as to why I’m drawn to it when they described it as Tomboyish. I like many short and gender neutral names. Thanks both of you.
Willa to me feels like a perfect balance for a little girl. The double ‘L’ and soft ‘W’ sound make it light and pretty and very feminine in my mind. At the same time, it’s short and sparky sound give it strength and like other’s have said a more gender neutral sound which i love. It’s connection to [name_m]William[/name_m] make it a great honour name and it’s similarity to [name_u]Willow[/name_u] give it a naturey and whimsical feel. I actually prefer it as a nn for [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] though :))
It just oozes vintage charm in all the best ways to me. Both city and country-chic, depending how you pair it. I love the -a suffix (à la [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f] etc.) I also love the gender-neutral nickname option of [name_m]Will[/name_m]. If I ever have 3 girls, she will be my third
Willa [name_u]Solstice[/name_u] rocks!
I’m starting to hear the softness in those L’s more!
Cute but not cutesy is an excellent description, thank you!
I love [name_f]Willa[/name_f]! I think it’s so sweet but also a little tomboyish! I have the combo [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] on my list.
I dont like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] or [name_u]Willow[/name_u] however love [name_m]William[/name_m]. I dont know why. I love [name_u]Harlow[/name_u], [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] and most names ending in in “low” but [name_u]Willow[/name_u] has always made me curl my nose as a name even though I like actual willows as in the plant. [name_f]My[/name_f] first association is [name_f]Buffy[/name_f] for [name_u]Willow[/name_u] and it was my favorite show growing up and even then I just never loved the name.
And i find [name_f]Willa[/name_f] even worse than [name_u]Willow[/name_u]. I actually like [name_f]Wilma[/name_f] more!
I really like [name_m]William[/name_m] or [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] for boys oddly enough but as middle names. It’s strange I know!
Sometimes there’s not a lot of rhyme or reason to what we like, is there? We have [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] in common - I love that too!
I like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] because of [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Cather[/name_f] and for the bright, outdoorsy feel of the name
Willa [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
Ah, [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is the first very feminine name that feels like it follows [name_f]Willa[/name_f] well for me - thanks!
