Help me choose a boys name...please!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

We’ve got a three year old girl called [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] (nickname [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]), and I’m due to give birth in three weeks to a baby boy. We can’t decide on a boys name. It’s driving me crazy…I have about three girls names I would use in a heartbeat but for some reason don’t completely love any on my boys list. After much deliberation, here is our shortlist:

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] ([name_m]Raff[/name_m])
[name_u]Banjo[/name_u]
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]
[name_u]Rex[/name_u]
[name_u]Gene[/name_u]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] ([name_m]Walt[/name_m])
[name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] ([name_m]Monty[/name_m])
[name_m]Hart[/name_m]

Surname is [name_u]Stanley[/name_u]. Help! Would love to hear suggestions, or any stand outs you like from the list above. Thanks!!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_f]Sunday[/name_f].

You have a nice solid list for boys there, and I definitely don’t dislike any of them.

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]. To me [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is fun and playful, but then has the rather dashing nn’s Raf and [name_u]Rafe[/name_u]. I’ve never met a [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], but I’d be delighted to. Names that remind me of [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] include [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], [name_m]Cashel[/name_m], [name_u]Clancy[/name_u], [name_m]Digby[/name_m] and [name_m]Rafael[/name_m]. (as well as [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], which you’ve already listed).

[name_u]Banjo[/name_u]. An awesome Australiana name in my opinion. I feel like it matches [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] well. For a write-up on the history of [name_u]Banjo[/name_u], (if you haven’t already) you could visit this aussie blog post from a couple years back - Requested Famous Name: Banjo | Waltzing More Than Matilda
Names that remind me of [name_u]Banjo[/name_u] include [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Ned[/name_m], [name_m]Byron[/name_m], [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and [name_m]Fergus[/name_m].

[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]. [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] is cute, and I’ve noticed it a bit in the British telegraph announcements, but it isn’t a favourite of mine. I’m not a huge fan of the nn [name_m]Barney[/name_m].

[name_u]Rex[/name_u]. A debonair name. He’ll fit in with all the other ‘x’ names like [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], while also standing out. Similar - [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] (if you don’t get the killer association), [name_m]Baxter[/name_m] and [name_m]Saxon[/name_m]. I’m also a huge fan of [name_m]Xavi[/name_m], an original short form of [name_m]Xavier[/name_m].

[name_u]Gene[/name_u]. A romantic, old-school name. I met a little [name_u]Gene[/name_u] recently, and his sister was [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I thought they were such charming names together. Similar: [name_m]Frank[/name_m], [name_u]Ray[/name_u], [name_u]Dean[/name_u] and [name_u]Beau[/name_u].

[name_m]Walter[/name_m] ([name_m]Walt[/name_m]). [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Walter[/name_m]. I have a friend that was going to name her son [name_m]Walter[/name_m] recently then at the last minute changed it to [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. [name_m]Walt[/name_m] is a wonderful nickname. Similar - [name_m]Albert[/name_m] or [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].

[name_m]Montgomery[/name_m]. I always have a soft spot for [name_m]Monty[/name_m] names, as that was the name of my childhood teddy! I also like [name_m]Montague[/name_m]. Other names that [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] reminds me of - [name_m]Maximillian[/name_m], Miro, [name_m]Romeo[/name_m], [name_m]Clarence[/name_m].

[name_m]Hart[/name_m]. I know a little biy named [name_m]Hart[/name_m]! Full name
[name_u]Hartley[/name_u]. I think [name_m]Hart[/name_m] is a beautiful name, while also being nice and short and distinct.

Wishing you all the best, there are so many wonderful names out there, I hope you find the perfect fit for your boy. [name_f]Imogen[/name_f].

Wow! What a wonderful name selection.
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is on my own short list, but I would opt for the nn [name_u]Rafe[/name_u].
[name_u]Banjo[/name_u], I love this, it’s all spunk.
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]. I personally wouldn’t use this for my own son, but i’d love to meet another little boy with this name. I don’t like any of the obvious nn for it.
[name_u]Rex[/name_u], as you can see from my signature, I am 100% for this name. It ticks every box for me and I can see myself having a little [name_u]Rex[/name_u] one day. Or a big [name_u]Rex[/name_u], as he grows up, I can see that too. I think it’s just fab!
[name_u]Gene[/name_u]. hmm, nms at all, and I think if i met a little boy with this name, the first thing i would think about is genetics. And then i’d try to figure out which parent he looked more like.
[name_m]Walter[/name_m], okay this is so in need of a fresh comeback. Much like [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], I don’t like the nn options but I would love to see it on a little boy.
[name_m]Montgomery[/name_m], [name_m]Monty[/name_m] is such a cute nn and makes me think of a mouse in a childhood storybook of mine. However, I dont like the flow of this name with your last.
[name_m]Hart[/name_m], fresh, new, spunky and warm, this name also ticks all the boxes for me.
You’ve got some modern sounding ([name_u]Rex[/name_u] and [name_m]Hart[/name_m]) some hipster word names ([name_u]Banjo[/name_u]) and some classic names ([name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]) and you seem to like names ending in y. With this, i’m going to suggest [name_m]Calloway[/name_m], [name_u]Ripley[/name_u], [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_u]Reed[/name_u].
And from the names you’ve listed, my fav combo is [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_u]Stanley[/name_u]. Good luck on your search!

[name_m]Walter[/name_m] is one of my favorites! [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] would work well with [name_f]Sunday[/name_f].

My personal favorite is [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]. With [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], I like; [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m], and [name_m]Hart[/name_m].

I love [name_u]Rex[/name_u], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] and [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m].

[name_u]Sunny[/name_u] and [name_u]Rex[/name_u], [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] and [name_m]Raff[/name_m] and [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] and [name_m]Monty[/name_m] would be my top three, in that order of preference.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]! So cute!
From your list, I think that [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] is the cutest and the nicest fit with [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]. [name_m]Hart[/name_m] would be my next pick, and then [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]. I feel that [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_u]Gene[/name_u] are a little dated, and [name_u]Banjo[/name_u] - I just don’t feel that it is a baby name.
