Since my last post, DH has made its clear he does not like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] or [name_f]Eva[/name_f] (which were on my list for fn’s) And also [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (which were on my list for mn’s)
I do love all these names but I have these concerns:
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] - this one seems popular on Nameberry but it’s not popular or common at all where I live (UK). Which is a good thing but at the same time the couple of people I have mentioned it to respond simply by saying “oh!” and I think the general consensus is that it’s an ‘old lady name’.
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] - DH loves this name and had no idea about the Frozen association but I do and I’m concerned that it’ll become over popular over the next few years due to the popularity of the movie and also the popularity of other ‘[name_f]El[/name_f]’ names ([name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] etc…)
I guess my question is, with the security of Nameberry aside (where guilty pleasure names are rife!)… in ‘real life’ which of these two names would you use? Is [name_f]Nora[/name_f] really too old and boring for a little girl? [name_m]Will[/name_m] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] really be too common and popular to use? And which of the above two middle names fits best with these two firsts? I’ve always like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and DH likes [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]…
We have been through lists of soooo many names and these are the ones we have whittled them down to so your help at this final name-choosing hurdle would be much appreciated Berries Thank you…
You have four beautiful names there, you can’t go wrong! I don’t see [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as old or [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] as common. [name_f]My[/name_f] personal favorite is [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].
I don’t find [name_f]Nora[/name_f] old at all but I do have my concerns about [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] becoming too popular, I can’t choose a favourite out of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. But what about [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Nora[/name_f]?
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite would be [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], such a beautiful name. I do not feel that [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is old and boring or that [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] will be common. [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] might shine in the spotlight for a few years (because of the movie), but I think will start fading again. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] feels stable, at least here in the states. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] the Cow was a mascot for [name_m]Borden[/name_m] Dairy Company, now to [name_u]Eagle[/name_u] [name_m]Brand[/name_m]. I personally cannot hear [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] without picturing and thinking of this mascot. I assume this would not be an issue where you live.
I really like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. To me both have the same vintage, old lady charm.
I think [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is a much nicer mn choice for both of your current fn choices than [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. IT has a nicer flow with each name. I think it’s the -a E- combo that is a bit abrupt for me and I think the -a V- just connects the names better.
PS: I think it’s hard to speculate about if [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] will become more popular do to the movie or not - that’s always a bit of a crab shoot - unless you see an actual statistical upturn I think it is difficult to really take that into consideration.
I know a 5 year old girl named [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and it fits her to a T.
She’s energetic but girly, loves to sing and dance!
Her sisters name is [name_f]Mirah[/name_f].
I’ve never been fond of [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and I do think it (and all it’s sisters–[name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_f]Elissa[/name_f], etc) will increase in popularity due to the movie.
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is gorgeous together.
