We have been trying to decide on a name for our baby girl for 2 months, and I am frozen. We are down to maybe two choices, but I keep backing away. We know we want [name_f]Emily[/name_f] for the middle name- it is the name of both of our grandmothers.
I personally think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] sounds the best. The two 'e’s with [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] are a bit of a mouthful to me. And I don’t think and of the J names flow that well. And [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] has the same rhyme sounds as [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
[name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is beautiful, but I’d get rid of the extra “e” at the end since [name_f]Emily[/name_f] begins with an E.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is a gorgeous name and I think it sounds much better than the other names you listed.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] sounds better in the first name spot with most of your choices. I’d avoid repeating initials and ending sounds, and try to have a different syllable count for each name. [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] sounds nice.
Thanks for the advice! I can see these names aren’t exactly popular. I don’t really mind if the middle name “flow” isn’t perfect, since my children are very rarely addressed by their middle names. Maybe once in a while they get to share them for a school project.
We would use [name_f]Emily[/name_f] for a first name, but it is just a little too popular. I don’t want her to share her name with half her kindergarten class.
I love [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]…if the three siblings all with J’s thing doesn’t matter to you…doesn’t seem like a big deal to me
Based on the look and sound alone, I like the name [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] the best. However if I ignore all my rules my preferred name is [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
Ok, first of all you should go with another “J” name since 2 of the 3 sibs have the “J”…unless you plan to have another sib in the future to pair the first initial with hers. This could really be an issue of an entire lifetime, wondering why she isn’t good enough to have the “J” and the others were. I have seen this issue with a lot of my friends & their sibs. It might sound petty, but it happens very often.
By the way, I love [name_f]Emily[/name_f] as a mn and with both of your grandmother’s having the name it is such an amazing honor.
My favorite of your choices is [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] or [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. I also really like [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Emily[/name_f] makes for a beautiful mn! I love the sentiment behind it, too. [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] is my favorite, although I agree that I prefer the more classic [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] spelling. It just seems softer to me. I find [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] intriguing, but the one [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] I know sort of ruined the name for me. (I do love her sister’s name, [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], though!)
I want to like [name_f]Nora[/name_f], because I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] works great, but I’m just not a [name_f]Nora[/name_f] fan. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is, well, … Pretty (forgive the linguistic pun! :)), but I’ve never really seen the appeal. It’s a [name_m]French[/name_m] word for me. I wouldn’t name my daughter Pretty, and I wouldn’t name my daughter [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], either. :). It is one of the more pretty [name_m]French[/name_m] word names, though.
[name_u]Harmony[/name_u] is sweet, but [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] almost seems cartoonishly rhymey. [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] [name_f]Emma[/name_f], maybe?
If you like the idea of honoring up front, have you considered [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]? I absolutely adore both! Or even [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmanuella[/name_f]?
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is definitely my favorite. The other names share too many similar sounds and don’t flow together. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a lovely name, too!
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] sounds the prettiest and has the best flow.
I don’t think it is necessary for all of your children to have J names. The boys do. Maybe start something new for the girls in the family. Maybe use the same initial of your name?
I agree with the person who recommended [name_f]Emeline[/name_f]–I have a darling daughter with the name and [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it.
But of your original choices, I like [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I would hesitate to use a J name, though, because if you have more kids and you don’t like any J names, it would seem a little weird. I have two kids that start with E and the rest don’t, and it isn’t a problem because we have loads of kids.
I think more about how much I like the name by itself moreso than how well it goes with [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. Listen, [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is a lovely name and it has special meaning to both you and your husband so ANY name will be beautiful in your ears and hearts once it is attached to your baby girl.
And you will be saying the first name by itself that overwhelming majority of the time (although there are exceptions) – so which name feels right to you?
I personally love [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Joelle[/name_f].
I also love [name_f]Justine[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_m]Noe[/name_m]
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is my favorite followed by [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] (without the E on the end).
