For context, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is my mom’s first name and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is my sister’s. I really want to include both of them, happen to love both their names, and really like the flow of the full name. I worry the combo may feel a bit expected, though, especially given how common [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is as a middle name. Does it feel too much like “filler”? I’ve also played with switching [name_f]Rose[/name_f] out for more distinctive [name_f]Rose[/name_f] variants like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], but none of them feels quite right with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or as connected to my sister.

As for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] Harriet/Harriet [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], pearl is Margaret’s meaning, so [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] would honor my mom. [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] is my sister’s middle name and also has meaning for me as a professor of 19th-century literature and history (lots of great/strong Harriets in that era). This is a newer idea for me, so just wondering in general what people think of it and also which order you prefer (Pearl [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] or [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] Pearl). Also wondering whether the Margaret/Pearl connection feels strong enough since it’s really important to me to include my mom centrally. I’ve thought about using [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or her middle name, [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], in place of [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but they both feel a bit heavy alongside [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], and with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], there’s the repetition of the shared ending. Haven’t totally ruled those options out, though.

I really like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], both for the direct honoring and the flow [name_f][/name_f] I am a huge [name_f]Rose[/name_f] fan, though I fully understand the ‘expected filler’ issue. I think two things mitigate that: [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is an important name for you, chosen for her meaning and not just because she fits well; being the second middle/ one of two, helps [name_f]Rose[/name_f] feel like she’s taking her rightful place in your daughter’s name, rather than feeling tagged there ornamentally.

Without a last name to factor in, I prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. That’s just my usual preference for a 3/1 syllable middle combo.

I think my favourite is [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], it feels classic and elegant and I agree that the flow is really nice. I don’t think they feel like ‘filler’ names, especially because they are so meaningful to you. Many of the people who know her full name will know why you chose it, and they are both gorgeous names. I agree that [name_f]Rose[/name_f] being the second middle name also helps to mitigate the expectedness of it. Good luck choosing!

But for you, I think using [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f] make a lot of sense. [name_m]No[/name_m] one goes by their middle names, most people won’t know her middle name, and I don’t think she’ll mind having common names in the middle. It’s so meaningful for you that it’s worth it.
