I wouldn’t say [name]Miriah[/name] the same at all, but like [name]Miriam[/name] without the M.

[name]Mariah[/name] is definitely the best spelling - with [name]Miriah[/name], I want to say Mih-rye-ah or worse [name]Miri[/name]-uh rather than mah-rye-ah. With [name]Moriah[/name], I seem to over-emphasize the [name]Mo[/name] sound - I don’t think that’s what you want. [name]Mariah[/name] is beautiful. I really like [name]Micah[/name] too! I just found out that I am pregnant with [name]Baby[/name] #2, yay!! Obviously, we don’t know what we’re having yet, but we’ve been talking names for the next one since right after our daughter was born. Our boy name is already decided–[name]Micah[/name] [name]Osvaldo[/name]–but we’re having a hard time with girls names. My question is two-fold. First, DH is has his heart set on a name that we can’t agree on how to spell. He wants [name]Miriah[/name], I say [name]Mariah[/name], with the possible compromise of [name]Moriah[/name]. Secondly, can you possibly suggest other girls names that we may be able to agree on? We would like to stay with “M” names. (i know alot of you don’t like to use the same letter, but we’re pretty set on it).

A couple of facts, DH is Cuban so incorporating that into the name would be great. Our last name is two syllables and starts with D, and our first daughter’s name is [name]Madelaine[/name] [name]Amelia[/name].

I would definitely go with [name]Mariah[/name]-- it’s the real spelling; everything else (especially [name]Miriah[/name], which looks like ‘Meery-a’) seems tryndeigh. I’m not really a fan of the name in general, but the original spelling is the best choice. Other M names:

You’ve pretty much confirmed my thoughts on the spelling of the name. The only reason that I like [name]Moriah[/name] is that it has a different meaning than [name]Mariah[/name].

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. Could you offer good middles for any of them? We are considering [name]Frances[/name] after DH’s grandmother. I also love Aleida, another of his family names, but I think its too much since we already have initials MAD with our first daughter. Other than that we’re pretty open I think.
