We have a daughter [name]Audrey[/name] and a son [name]Luke[/name], baby #3 arriving on wednesday…
For a boy, do you prefer [name]JOHN[/name] or [name]WILLIAM[/name]?
For a girl, do you prefer [name]ANNA[/name] or [name]CLAIRE[/name]?

If you have [name]Luke[/name] and [name]John[/name] they sound quite biblical together to me. [name]Just[/name] need [name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Mark[/name]. If you like that connection I think [name]John[/name] is a good match. [name]William[/name] is a wonderful classic, you couldn’t go wrong with [name]William[/name].
I prefer [name]Claire[/name] with [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name].
You can’t go wrong with [name]William[/name]. It’s a great name and it sounds wonderful with your other children’s names. [name]Claire[/name] is at the top of my girl’s name list, so I love it! I think it goes so well with both [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Luke[/name].
With [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Luke[/name]…I really like [name]William[/name] or [name]Claire[/name]. Great names!
100% [name]William[/name]! I think the name is really cool and classic, while still having a modern sounding nickname - [name]Liam[/name], or [name]Bill[/name] or [name]Billy[/name].
I prefer [name]Anna[/name], it’s very pretty. [name]Claire[/name] sounds outdated to me.
I don’t know about [name]Anna[/name], but how about Annabeth? It’s got lots of room to grow. The baby could be a tomboy or girls. Either way, it’s still nice, and not very common.
I much prefer [name]William[/name] and [name]Anna[/name]. [name]William[/name] is a classic with lots of nicknames (love [name]Will[/name]) and I’ve always had a soft spot for [name]Anna[/name]. I also think [name]Anna[/name] is much less dated than [name]Claire[/name], even though [name]Claire[/name] is pretty.
[name]William[/name] and [name]Anna[/name]
[name]Both[/name] of your choices are nice, but here are some additional thoughts…
For a boy, I am voting for [name]John[/name] for these reasons: (1) These days, [name]William[/name] is MUCH more popular than [name]John[/name], so a boy named [name]John[/name] is less likely to be surrounded with others who share his name. (2) Your other son, [name]Luke[/name], has a one-syllable Bible name like [name]John[/name]. (3) Presumably, your children [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Luke[/name] do not go by nicknames, and (presumably) neither would [name]John[/name].
For a girl, I am voting for [name]Claire[/name] because… with siblings [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Luke[/name], using [name]Claire[/name] would mean your children will all have their own first initial. In contrast to [name]Luke[/name], [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Anna[/name] would both have two-syllable names that start with A. So, [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Luke[/name], and [name]Claire[/name] is preferable to me than [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Luke[/name], and [name]Anna[/name].
When it comes right down to it though, use the names YOU love best.
I like [name]John[/name] [name]William[/name] as a first/middle set. Mostly because I love the nicknames [name]Johnny[/name] and [name]Jack[/name]. With the amount of [name]Williams[/name] and Jacks I see, [name]John[/name] is a refreshing change for a youngster.
I also prefer [name]Claire[/name] over [name]Anna[/name] again because [name]Claire[/name] is not as common. Perhaps [name]Clara[/name] or the [name]Clare[/name] spelling might appeal to you.
Congratulations and good luck
[name]William[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] get my votes all the way!!
I guess it’s the Southerner in me but I’d double barrel it
[name]John[/name] [name]William[/name] nn J.W.
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
I like both [name]John[/name] and [name]William[/name], but I think [name]John[/name] goes slightly better with your sibset. For girls, I far prefer [name]Anna[/name], I think it’s gorgeous and I’m not a fan of [name]Claire[/name] at all, it feels bland and dated to me.
[name]William[/name] or [name]Claire[/name]
I am more of a fan of [name]John[/name] and [name]Anna[/name] than of [name]William[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] - but I think they are all nice names that I don’t think would ever really feel dated.
With [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Luke[/name], though, I think I slightly prefer [name]William[/name] and [name]Claire[/name]. But either way, you’d have a nice sibset.
[name]William[/name] for a boy. I really like the nickname [name]Will[/name], and for some reason I just think that [name]Will[/name] would be more of a likeable and relatable person than [name]John[/name].
For a girl, definitely [name]Anna[/name]. Again with the likeable thing, and personally I’m just not a big fan of [name]Claire[/name]. However, I do like [name]Clara[/name]- I think it’s sweeter and more feminine than [name]Claire[/name] is.
It’s hard because I love both [name]John[/name] & [name]William[/name], but for the girl, I vote for [name]Claire[/name].
[name]Claire[/name] and [name]William[/name].
I also vote for [name]Claire[/name] and [name]William[/name]. [name]Claire[/name] is my youngest daughter’s name. Congratulations!
I prefer [name]William[/name], but I like that both [name]Luke[/name] and [name]John[/name] are short and sweet.
I prefer [name]Claire[/name], but then the one syllable name matches your son’s and not your daughter’s name, but if you pick [name]Anna[/name], then both the girl’s names start with A.
I like [name]Ana[/name] and [name]Annie[/name], but I think [name]Anna[/name] needs something more… like [name]Susanna[/name] or a double barrel name… Another poster suggested it, and I thought the same thing - why not [name]Anna[/name] [name]Claire[/name]? I heard it once on a soap opera and it sounds lovely.
I think [name]John[/name] if it’s a boy and [name]Anna[/name] if it’s a girl.
