I posted a while back about a name dilemma I was having and you were all super helpful and encouraging, which I am so grateful for.
Am due next week and think we have settled on two middle names for our baby girl, but just wondering in what order you’d put them in? Our last name is one syllable and begins with W. Elsie is non-negotiable due to it being my late grandmother’s name, but as I said before, I just don’t love it on it’s own with Margot hence why we have settled on two middles. We LOVE Willow so are fairly sure that will be the second name, but I have also thrown in Rose as an option too as I keep coming back to it.
For context, I think I initially preferred the flow of Margot Willow Elsie so as not to have the alliteration on the end but not sure if the double O sounds right together? But then is it better to have them together than broken up by Elsie in the middle…this is where I am getting stuck.
Would love to know your thoughts…thank you in advance
Out of all the combos I think I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] W__ the most. That being said if you have another daughter in the future would you want to use [name_f]Willow[/name_f] or do you have another name in mind?
I know some people who want to use all the names they love incase they don’t have a second of the same gender, but then regret having already used it as a middle for their 1st child
If you think you may want [name_f]Willow[/name_f] as a first name for a second child I would probably use [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as the other middle name. If you see [name_f]Willow[/name_f] only as a middle name then I say go for it!
I also don’t think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] W__ isn’t a bad option either even though the syllables aren’t broken up as much as the other names!
I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] because I like the consonant W after the vowel ending of [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and I like that there isn’t two W names next to each other once you put your last name in tbe mix. Otherwise [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] but in some ways they feel like two names to me, [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] W, while MWEW flows as one name. Good luck!
I quite like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] W___ ! I don’t think the W W run into eachother in a bad way, I think the alliteration is charming.
I would choose [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] for many reasons. its flow is beautiful, including with one syllable W surname. there may be times in her life when she will be required or choose to use just one middle name or even initial, and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] feels perfect for those times. also, [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is not only adorably well balanced with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] but is also your honor name for your grandma. A name with such signifance I think would be really nice in the first middle spot. Good luck and congratulations
I would use the honour name first, so Margot Elsie Willow or Margot Elsie Rose (this one would be my preference because of the W last name).
ETA: because I just realised that @rosajune made a great point about sometimes having to drop the 2nd middle. My kids each have 2 middle names, and I will give you 3 examples I can think of when their 2nd middle was dropped:
On their library cards - there is only room for one middle name.
On some personalised blankets made by a relative - they only included the 1st middle name.
When one of my girls was in kindergarten, she shared her first name with another girl. The teachers called them “Firstname Middlename” to distinguish them, and it was only the first middle used.
So based on those possibilities, I would always suggest putting the most meaningful name as the first middle.
I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]! [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] rhyme for me being right next to each other; [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] breaks up the rhyme and flows best. I dont think the last name with a second middle sharing the same first letter is a big deal. I think overall flow is more important with a longer name. Great name - sounds regal or like someone famous!!
