Help me decide!

I am a very indecisive person and would love to hear general feedback on some names that have been tossed around (please be honest, but respectful). DH typically likes unique, masculine names, so here are some that came up:

[name]Nash[/name]
[name]Crew[/name]
[name]Ridge[/name]
[name]Vance[/name]
[name]Rex[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name] (would go by [name]Dex[/name])

Also, 1-syllable names are preferred. So if you have any masculine, short names to throw in the mix that are also easy to spell/say (not into creative spellings), feel free to add to the list.

Thanks!

[name]Nash[/name] - Would you consider using [name]Nate[/name]/[name]Nathanial[/name]? I prefer [name]Nate[/name] to [name]Nash[/name].
[name]Crew[/name] - Not my style.
[name]Ridge[/name] - I don’t mind [name]Ridge[/name]. I think I would pair this with a more classic/traditional mn for some balance.
[name]Vance[/name] - My favourite of your suggestions! [name]Vance[/name] definitely has my vote.
[name]Rex[/name] - I have known too many dogs by the name of [name]Rex[/name] unfortunately!
[name]Dexter[/name] (would go by [name]Dex[/name]) - Probably my second favourite of your suggestions. My only hesitation is the association I have to the TV show/serial killer

I really like [name]Crew[/name]!
Here are some nice 1 syllable masculine suggestions:
[name]Boyd[/name]
[name]Boone[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Wade[/name]
[name]Slate[/name]
[name]Thane[/name]
[name]Beau[/name]
[name]Duke[/name]
[name]Pierce[/name]/[name]Piers[/name]
[name]Zane[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name]
[name]Trace[/name]
[name]Zeke[/name]
[name]Reed[/name]/[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Scout[/name]

What about [name]Cash[/name]?

I like [name]Nash[/name] and [name]Ridge[/name] best. My cousin’s little boy is named [name]Nash[/name], and he is so cute. [name]Ridge[/name] is cool and appeals to my nature loving style  [name]Crew[/name] is too much of a word name to me (crew of a ship, crew socks, crew cut, etc). Plus, it’s the kind of word that sounds really strange when you say it a lot. I know a man named [name]Rex[/name], and the names works well for him. The others are ok, just not my style.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Nash[/name], [name]Crew[/name] and [name]Dex[/name]. [name]Rex[/name] is too dinosaur for me, [name]Ridge[/name] too wordy, and [name]Vance[/name] just not a sound I like. Some other shorter masculine names:
[name]Bram[/name]
[name]Abe[/name]
[name]Blake[/name]
[name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Zane[/name]
[name]Gray[/name]
[name]Boyd[/name]
[name]Clark[/name]
[name]Burke[/name]
[name]Brooks[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name]
[name]Kai[/name]
[name]Kent[/name]
[name]Lyle[/name]
[name]Mack[/name]
[name]Rocco[/name]
[name]Shaw[/name]
[name]Shea[/name]
[name]Thane[/name]
[name]Sven[/name]
[name]Mose[/name]
[name]Cord[/name]
[name]Axel[/name]
[name]Brant[/name]
[name]Dean[/name]
[name]Sol[/name]
[name]Cale[/name]
[name]Heath[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]

[name]Nash[/name]-like
[name]Crew[/name]-nms
[name]Ridge[/name]-back
[name]Vance[/name]-like
[name]Rex[/name]-love
[name]Dexter[/name] (would go by [name]Dex[/name])-like

My suggestions:
[name]Rebel[/name] nn [name]Reb[/name]
[name]Rhett[/name]
[name]Saul[/name]
[name]Cash[/name] or [name]Cassius[/name] nn [name]Cash[/name]
[name]Nate[/name] or [name]Nathan[/name] nn [name]Nate[/name]

When my son was in the hospital, there was a boy nearby who was named [name]Colt[/name]. I loved it. I also love [name]Cash[/name], [name]Cade[/name], [name]Max[/name], [name]Zane[/name], [name]Blake[/name]…

I love the one syllable name, [name]Kai[/name].

Some great suggestions here! I will run them by DH. Unfortunately both [name]Cash[/name] and [name]Colt[/name] are off the table (dogs name and close friend’s sons name), plus [name]Kai[/name] is too rhymy with our last name. But the others I will check with hubby.

Any other feedback/opinions on our short list?

I would love to get additional feedback on these names. Would it make a difference if you knew the last name was [name]Reilly[/name]?

I do have some concerns about reverse name potential (like confusion about [name]Nash[/name] [name]Reilly[/name] or [name]Reilly[/name] [name]Nash[/name]). Same could be said about [name]Crew[/name] also. Maybe I need to broaden my list more.

Thanks for the help!

I was going to suggest [name]Buckley[/name] with [name]Buck[/name] as a nickname, but [name]Buckley[/name] [name]Reilly[/name] doesn’t work (unless you want the child’s name to rhyme). I like [name]Vance[/name] the most with your last name.

[name]Nash[/name] - seems incomplete
[name]Crew[/name] - I simply can’t see it as a name; sorry
[name]Ridge[/name] - ditto
[name]Vance[/name] - I like it
[name]Rex[/name] - nicknamey and I don’t like that it’s alliterative with your last name, but how about [name]Reginald[/name] with [name]Rex[/name] as a nn?
[name]Dexter[/name] (would go by [name]Dex[/name]) - my favorite on your list, but it doesn’t mesh with your last name as well as it could (ends in r; surname starts with r)

I like:

[name]Boone[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Wade[/name]
[name]Beau[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]

[name]Nash[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name] (would go by [name]Dex[/name])

[name]Love[/name] the one-syllable masculine names!

I like [name]Vance[/name], ever consider [name]Vaughn[/name]?

I like [name]Vance[/name] the best out of your list. I think the suggestion of [name]Grant[/name] is good too. Some other suggestions–

[name]Kent[/name]
[name]Mark[/name]
[name]Tate[/name]
[name]Cole[/name]
[name]Drew[/name]
[name]Ward[/name]
[name]Clark[/name]
[name]Scott[/name]
[name]Jay[/name]
[name]Chase[/name]
