[name_m]Just[/name_m] found out we are expecting (first pregnancy) but I’ve loved names for years…hopefully things go well and I will get to put naming into practice! So looking for input on my current list and looking for suggestions as well
I don’t know if I have a distinct stye…maybe I will learn.
For a girl I’m looking for a short (one or two syllable) name. The middle name is [name_f]Irene[/name_f], firm decision. LN is 3 syllables, ends in N. I do not want a first name that ends in N or A (although I ‘like’ several names that end in N&A I don’t think I would end up choosing one.) Here are some names I do like and I’ll try to list them in order of preference…but there is no real frontrunner.
In terms of popularity, In between top 100 and 1000 is good. Actually even anything out of the top 25.
[name_f]Carys[/name_f]/[name_f]Caris[/name_f] (I prefer the ‘i’ spelling, but if the ‘y’ is traditional I would choose that)
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f] (no long form)
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] ([name_f]LOVE[/name_f] but guilty pleasure, not happening)
[name_u]Josie[/name_u] (not interested in [name_f]Josephine[/name_f])
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Hana[/name_f] (spelling has personal connection)
[name_u]Joss[/name_u]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Gia[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
I don’t know. If anyone can make suggestions or comments off of that, that would be helpful! I can add more “guidelines” if this is too broad…?
I like the names on your list. I tend to gravitate toward one and two syllable girl names that are not fussy, but still feminine, just like these. Isla and Carys are my favorites.
Suggestions:
Neve
Islay
Noemi
Halle
Elise
Cerise
Esme
Sosie
Avoiding A and N-ending names is tough! Ones I like that end with those letters:
Ayla
Ailsa
Maren
Oh this is fun. Thanks for the replies so far. I am feeling that [name_u]Halle[/name_u] and [name_u]Haven[/name_u] fit my style so will think on those some more. [name_u]Haven[/name_u] is super sweet but I think I have a complex around names that I feel are ‘new’ - same with [name_u]Story[/name_u]; so sweet but doesn’t feel ‘namey’ enough for me personally. I also like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Maren[/name_f] but last name starts with M and it turns out I’m not loving alliteration. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u] are nice suggestions as well.
Seeing some love for [name_f]Isla[/name_f] - is [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] too much? …Darn I didn’t even think about the alliteration there. [name_f]Caris[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] is probably the best flow so far.
I want to say [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], but there’s an n ending
Someone brought up [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] on a different thread, which I like.
Also [name_f]Sarai[/name_f], [name_f]Alys[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
Thoughts: I really tend toward longer names with nn’s so keep that in mind with my thoughts. I like [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] off of your list best. [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] is sweet but I think [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] has a level of sophistication missing from the other combo. I do think that [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] is a bit odd - mostly because both of the names are so short and the beginnings sound very repetitious.
