I have a long list of names I like for a boy, but nothing I love. I’ve really been struggling to find a name that I’m as excited to use as our top girl pick ([name]Margot[/name]), and I’m drawing a blank. Please suggest some names similar in feel to our list. The only real requirement is that they’re not in the top 250/300 names in the US and have a legitimate history as a given name.
I do like [name]Henrik[/name], [name]Marcus[/name] and [name]Burke[/name]. I also like [name]Jonah[/name], [name]Corbin[/name], [name]Declan[/name] and [name]August[/name] but they’ve all been vetoed. I love [name]Jasper[/name] so much I used it for my puppy, so that is out sadly. Thanks for the suggestions, great list!
My vote is for [name]Conrad[/name]…I am biased though. My [name]Conrad[/name] is sweet, very intelligent, good sense of humor and a protective big brother. It fits him perfectly
Thanks, L! [name]Conrad[/name] has always been a favorite, and I really love the spunk of the nn [name]Rad[/name]. DH’s response is always that it’s “a little too Russian”, whatever that means. I did kind of wear him down with [name]Margot[/name], in a sense, though. So maybe there is still hope
I do love [name]Silas[/name], but for some unexplainable reason, it just doesn’t feel like the name. I do like [name]Augustus[/name] (prefer [name]Augustin[/name] though), [name]Dean[/name] and [name]Charleston[/name]. [name]Jeremiah[/name] and [name]Jedidiah[/name] seem very “Duggar” to me. Giani sounds cool but I’m not nearly Italian enough for this- my husband and I are both Irish/Scottish gingers
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ephraim[/name], [name]Linus[/name] ([name]Linus[/name]!!!), [name]Simon[/name], [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Leander[/name], [name]Hiram[/name], and [name]Conrad[/name]. I don’t even know what to suggest, those are seriously so perfect and they seem to suit your style so well. I’ve seen [name]Linus[/name] pretty much on your list since you first joined here, I can’t really see you without a [name]Linus[/name].
I’m not sure, the only idea I can really think of is [name]Everett[/name], maybe. [name]Felix[/name] seems pretty perfect for you, too, or maybe [name]August[/name]. [name]Everett[/name] might be more popular than you’d like to go, though.
Thanks, [name]Ash[/name]! You’re right, [name]Linus[/name] is definitely the name that’s stuck the longest. I guess my main concern with [name]Linus[/name] is if it will age well. [name]Will[/name] more people identify the name with the Peanuts character or with [name]Linus[/name] Larabee, or better yet, [name]Linus[/name] Pauling? I want my son to have a handsome, distinguished name as an adult, nothing that sounds cutesie in any way.
I will definitely be passing along the message, haha! Luckily, he is pretty easily persuaded, and it’s rare he feels strongly enough about a name to be unwilling to budge, so I’ll keep mentioning [name]Conrad[/name] and see where I get.
Hmm. I don’t know, lol. I think of Peanuts’ [name]Linus[/name], but I love the association of the cute little lonely boy playing the piano with his blankie. Then again, I’ve played piano since I can remember, so I like the little piano association.
I guess I mean that I don’t dislike the Peanuts association for a child, but I don’t really want a 30+ year old professional to be tied to this image, if that makes sense.
I know what you mean. As I think of [name]Linus[/name] growing up, though, it just seems to morph into a great name, and all I see is the artsy, talented musical type of guy (although [name]Linus[/name] could certainly suit any guy!), nothing with the childish parts of Peanuts left over.
I was reading a book several years ago that was set around the time [name]Jesus[/name]’ crucifixion would have been, and there was a soldier named [name]Linux[/name] (which is where [name]Linus[/name] comes from, I believe?), so I have the image of a strong, burly [name]Roman[/name] soldier alongside the image of a softer musician type, so I think it’s great for anybody. [name]May[/name] just be me, though.
I really love the names [name]Conrad[/name] and [name]Solomon[/name] from your list. Other names I really like are [name]Bennett[/name], [name]Porter[/name] and [name]Lincoln[/name].
good luck!
