Help me fall in love with [name_u]Marion[/name_u] as a middle name for our future little boy or help me come up with a better option! My husband is really hanging onto this one and I can’t seem to love it as much as he does. He claims it’s to honor two of his grandmothers ([name_f]Marie[/name_f] & [name_f]Mary[/name_f]) which is sweet! We have chosen Alder as the first name and planned on having two middle names, so as it stands it will be:
Alder [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] (husband fav combo & [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] honors my grandfather/mother’s side)
or
Alder [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] (love grey but hate how popular it is these days)
We toyed around with a few others like [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m], [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], & [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] which he likes but I can’t seem to crack [name_u]Marion[/name_u] as his number one choice… Maybe you have a suggestion that will? Or maybe you can convince me to fall in love with it too!?
I love when middle names are family names so I would go with Alder [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_m]Fitz[/name_m]. If you don’t like [name_u]Marion[/name_u], what about similar names to honor [name_f]Marie[/name_f]/[name_f]Mary[/name_f]?
Alder [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] is such a distinguished name, very handsome. I like pp’s suggestion of [name_m]Marius[/name_m] if that improves it for you but honestly, [name_u]Marion[/name_u] is full of meaning and your hubby’s favorite. I would say use it. Presumably you love Alder, [name_u]Marion[/name_u] is a great fit and it isn’t like it’s totally out of left field with the other names you like. Alder Methuselah [name_m]Fitz[/name_m], for example, I wouldn’t try to convince you to use (although come to think of it, that combo does have a nice flow…)
As it’s a middle name, I wouldn’t worry about it too much - your husband loves it and it’s a family name, and most kids don’t ever use their middle name in everyday life, so it’s unlikely he would be teased for it. However, if you really dislike it, I love the suggestion of Alder [name_m]Marius[/name_m] [name_m]Fitz[/name_m].
I want to like [name_m]Marius[/name_m] but that’s even closer to my name ([name_f]Marissa[/name_f]) I think I was hoping for suggestions from left field. I do like [name_u]Marion[/name_u] (probably better than [name_m]Marius[/name_m]) but just haven’t fallen in love. (Maybe more outside love will help - I told my mother who wasn’t crazy about it either) I also just may be feeling the need to contribute to the name in some way (my husband also chose alder - I just happened to like that one) thanks for the suggestions though!!
