Help me figure out hubby & I's naming styles...and suggest names please!

For a boy it is simple we are going to go with [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] (both family names)

Last name is 4 syllables long, very Italian, starts with an L ends with an I

For a girl it is much more complicated…

I seen to love E names…[name_f]Eliana[/name_f](hubby nixed this, but I would love to somehow use [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] nn, [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Elissa[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f](hubby nixed this one and so no Z’s), elizabeth(would most likely use this as a mn)

I love [name_f]Lena[/name_f] he says it sounds incomplete or like a nn

I really like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], he says no

I love [name_f]Marin[/name_f] he definitely nixed this one…but I would like alternate suggestions to represent [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], my grandmothers names…I suggested [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]…he said no :frowning:

He likes names that are 80’s, 90’s to me…[name_u]Brooke[/name_u](although I like this one to especially since its a water name, I love the water, maybe use for a mn?), [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u](could use this as mn as it is my deceased moms name), [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u] (I think this one could be cute too), [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] (this one is ok, and I know a re really adorable little girl by this name so that helps lol) even though I like some of these names they all seem somewhat dated to me…

He seems to show preference to J, and K names [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_u]Julianne[/name_u], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], [name_u]Kiley[/name_u], [name_f]Kira[/name_f], [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

He does not want anything too Italian ([name_f]Gianna[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f])
Nothing too frilly he seems to prefer [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] over [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], and [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] over [name_f]Brianna[/name_f], he said definitely not to [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
Hubby says he likes [name_f]Marlena[/name_f] but seems a bit too bad girl, he also said [name_f]Mya[/name_f] and [name_f]Gianna[/name_f] are under the same category to him

We both like [name_f]Elena[/name_f] but it was a prior gf of his so maybe some alternates to this name…[name_f]Elaina[/name_f]?
We both like [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f](nn [name_f]Bri[/name_f] or [name_f]Brielle[/name_f])
[name_m]Both[/name_m] love [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but with [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and Wlliam as a subset people would think of the prince and dutchess
[name_m]Both[/name_m] love [name_f]Willow[/name_f] but to close to [name_m]William[/name_m] to use yet
[name_m]Both[/name_m] like [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]
[name_m]Both[/name_m] like [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], (a family name), do not like the nn [name_u]Jo[/name_u] though
[name_m]Both[/name_m] like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], IDK if I love it though…
[name_m]Both[/name_m] like [name_u]Kiley[/name_u] but Idk if the end sound is too matchy with our last name a long I
[name_m]Both[/name_m] like [name_f]Julianna[/name_f] or [name_u]Julianne[/name_u]
I love the name [name_f]Rose[/name_f]…his Grandmothers name is [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]

Open to any new suggestions…what do you think?

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Martina[/name_f]
[name_f]Marielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f]
[name_u]Kiah[/name_u] (pron kye-ah)
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariane[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]

Since you seem to love “E” names, let’s start there. If you want to use the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], why not [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (no “Z” since he didn’t like that with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f])?

I love [name_f]Elena[/name_f], but I agree that if it’s a former girlfriend’s name, it may be best to look at other names. Other E names you might like:

[name_f]Emelina[/name_f] (you can use the nickname [name_f]Lina[/name_f], which you like)
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliora[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]

Other names in general that you might like:

[name_f]Katalina[/name_f] or [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] (again, you can use [name_f]Lina[/name_f])
[name_f]Nicolina[/name_f] ([name_f]Lina[/name_f])
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] (nickname [name_f]Mira[/name_f])
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
[name_f]Rilla[/name_f]

Thank you for your responses!

@spring13-He said [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] it too old lady and I kind of agree, although is has cute nn’s I love [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] so thank you for the suggestion, the names I like from your list are [name_f]Ariane[/name_f](will suggest that one to DH), [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] (but I think I remember DH nixing this one), [name_f]Marielle[/name_f](have a feeling he won’t go for it), and [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f], which has also been nixed…

@gabriela- [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] with an s is a good suggestion, thanks will suggest with DH
DH will say most of the E names you suggested aren’t “real” names…I’ve suggested [name_u]Ellery[/name_u], and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] with a “no”…
He also said no to [name_u]Emery[/name_u](I think he thought it was a boy name)
And I’ve suggested [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] but he says no, I rather like that one
None of their other names suggested are our cup of tea…thank you though!

I’ve gotten out of him that he likes the name [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]!(never would have thought that…but he does not think it sounds good with our last name, I agree)
And we both like [name_f]Nora[/name_f]!

Oh also hubby does not like alliteration so no [name_f]Lena[/name_f] for me :frowning:
And he really likes [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] but I do not…

[name_f]Helena[/name_f] (hel-ay-na) then you can get to [name_f]Lena[/name_f] if you wanted.

For some reason he doesn’t like [name_f]Helena[/name_f]…it is not my favorite either…thank you for the suggestion though!

Any other inputs?

Since you like [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but don’t want a [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f], how about [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f]/[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]?

I do think [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_m]William[/name_m] are very close, but maybe [name_f]Willa[/name_f]?

I love [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but am not loving [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f](grew up with tonsss of them, maybe that’s why)…hubby doesn’t like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and we probably won’t be able to use [name_f]Willow[/name_f] because of the [name_m]William[/name_m] thing…unless we have 2 girls, we could use it then because we are only planning on having 2 children, otherwise perhaps I could use it as a mn…thank you for the feedback

From your names [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] ( nn [name_f]Ana[/name_f] or [name_f]Hanna[/name_f]?) are great!

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Elena[/name_f] would be fabulous!

Or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]?

Suggestions :
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Kimber[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellison[/name_u]

Edited for privacy.

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is what came to mind when I read this.

As far as [name_f]Rose[/name_f] variations go, I see the poster above me forgot to add [name_f]Roseanna[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f]. But I love their suggestion of [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Roxana[/name_f] would be nice since it is a bit fresher.
