DH and I are hoping to conceive again and I’m still on the hunt for a girl’s name that I love with my last name. Tys0n. It seems like many of the names I like emphasize the “s” in [name]Tyson[/name] in a lispy way.
Siblings are in my siggy. In an ideal world the next girl’s name would not start with P, C, M, K, or J. Additionally, it bugs me a tad that only one of our kiddos has a multisyllabic name. This doesn’t bother my husband at all.
I also like [name]Lucy[/name] for you - but I’m thinking that is the sort of lispy sound you are afraid of with your last name. I think it sounds nice though.
Thanks for the ideas. I’ve been thinking about [name]Lydia[/name] lately. Hubby has always vetoed it, but I think he’s weakening as he is now willing to admit he likes Liddy. I think [name]Isabel[/name] works well with my last name too but seems like my kids know a lot of little Isabelles.
I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] is a little hard to say with my last name. I’m also not loving the prominent “t” in [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Victoria[/name] with my last name.
I love [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]! I would go with [name]Mary[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Mary[/name] is one of my favorites and would go perfectly with your other kids.
I do love [name]Mary[/name] [name]Grace[/name]! I worry though that visually [name]Mary[/name] is some what of a combo of [name]Mark[/name]'s and [name]Clare[/name]'s name.
I know you know I love [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] it’s beautiful and works perfectly with your other children. I do also really like [name]Caroline[/name] for you, I think it would be sweet that the girls would all have the “k” sound…[name]Lydia[/name] is pretty, and a little "Liddy"would be precious!
[name]Even[/name] when discussing [name]Caroline[/name] with my husband I find myself saying Claroline. In fact, I think part of the reason we like it is that it reminds me of [name]Clare[/name]'s name. I could put that aside as I know that for a while I was calling [name]Clare[/name] Clatharine and I don’t do that any more (now, I just call [name]Clare[/name] [name]Katharine[/name]…oops). It’s the theme that worries me the most. When dh and I got married we wanted a bunch of kids but that hasn’t quite happened and I’m approaching 40, but who knows maybe we’ll still end up with a few more. If they are all girls, I don’t want to feel confined to a C/K theme particularly as I bet most of the names we’d like would all start with the C.
How about [name]Charlotte[/name]? I know you don’t want another C name, but I love [name]Charlotte[/name] with [name]Paul[/name], [name]Clare[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Katharine[/name], and [name]James[/name].
Other ideas:
I understand your concerns though. If like you say you might have a few more kids, more one syllable names kind of strengthen the trend.
Besides the C/K, [name]Clare[/name] and [name]Katharine[/name] are united by being accepted but not the most common spellings. So that’s something to consider
Besides [name]Grace[/name], I can also see (besides the many good suggestions here…I might of course repeat on accident)
[name]Elisabeth[/name] (I think you said you didn’t like this as a first? But in case I’m misremembering that. I think it’s nice).
[name]Eva[/name] (two syllable variant of a Biblical name, fairly classic)
[name]Anna[/name] (see [name]Hannah[/name])
[name]Hannah[/name] (Biblical and familiar/classic - the short A ties it in with [name]Clare[/name] and [name]Katharine[/name] a bit)
[name]Laura[/name] (classic)
[name]Leah[/name] (Biblical and familiar/classic)
[name]Natalie[/name]/[name]Nathalie[/name] for an accepted not-most-common (classic and the allusion to [name]Christmas[/name] may go with the boys’ Biblical names and girls’ saints’ names. I know you didn’t love T’s though…I think it could work though)
[name]Rachel[/name]/Raechel for an accepted not-most-common (Biblical)
[name]Rebecca[/name]/[name]Rebekah[/name] ([name]Rebekah[/name] for an accepted not-most-common; Biblical; either spelling gets you the C or K to tie with the girls, just not at the beginning)
Thanks for the suggestions. The funny thing is that my name is [name]Laura[/name]; [name]Rebecca[/name] is my only sister, and my husband is [name]Nathan[/name] which is way too close to [name]Natalie[/name] for me; and [name]Hannah[/name] is the name of my niece. [name]Anna[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name] would be a leading contender but we are 100% set on [name]Andrew[/name] for a baby and I’ll only consider [name]Anna[/name] if I’m really sure it’s my last baby. [name]Leah[/name] has been on my list before but I don’t really like her story and we make a pretty huge deal about the kids namesakes. That’s also why [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] variants aren’t on our list.
I really like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I think it goes well with your other kids. [name]Julia[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], and [name]Meredith[/name] would go great but you mentioned that you didn’t want to use any of the other kids intials. Here are some others that may work. [name]Paul[/name], [name]Clare[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Katharine[/name], and [name]James[/name]
It’s interesting to see [name]Emily[/name] mentioned twice. I had never really considered [name]Emily[/name] but had been thinking of it lately and part of what drew me to it was that I thought it sounded nice with my last name.
