[name]Hi[/name], i’m new to this site so i’ll introduce myself… I’m [name]Lucy[/name], i’m 21 years old and no, i’m not naming a baby - i’m looking for a middle name (or two) for myself.
So, when I was born my parents didn’t give me a middle name as my grandmother has about 5 middle names (which she hates) and ever since no one born in my family has had a middle name. This is something I have always been a little bothered by and always felt disappointed and left out when other people would reveal their beautiful/exotic/embarrassing middle names. Anyway, my parents have always said that they would be happy for me to choose my own middle name which is now what I plan on doing - with a little help and advice from you guys.
Right now i’m thinking of having a double middle name. The first being a name that I like and that I feel suits my personality and interests. And the second being a family name. I haven’t discussed this second middle with my parents yet - I wanted a little input before I do that - but earlier this year my maternal grandfather died and just recently it hit me that I don’t have his surname, and as both of his children and all 3 of his grandchildren are girls - It could easily get lost. Therefore I was wondering if it would be appropriate for me to have my mothers maiden name as a middle name as a tribute/ token of remembrance for my grandfather? FYI, the name is Johnstone.
As for the first middle, I like [name]Florence[/name], [name]Amelia[/name]/[name]Amelie[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name]… and that is where my list stops, hence the need for input. I was hoping you could suggest some strong, feminine and fun names along these lines that would go well between [name]Lucy[/name] and Johnstone??

- [name]Alice[/name] - I adore this name as well. I think of sweet and curious alice from the wonderland books. Means noble.
- [name]Cara[/name] - I think it’s sweet. Means “dear”.
- [name]Claire[/name] - Means Pure.
- [name]Elizabeth[/name] - means pledged to god. I don’t know how religious you are though…
- [name]Ophelia[/name] - one of my favourite Shakespearean names. I love it, but the character was pretty tragic.
- [name]Juliet[/name] - another one of my fave Shakespearean names. She was also tragic.
- [name]Mae[/name] - short and sweet.
- [name]Catherine[/name] - Another classic. It also means pure.
- [name]Helena[/name] - means “bright shining one”.
- [name]Emmeline[/name] - I think its sweet and feminine sounding
- [name]Ramona[/name] - means “wise protector”.
- [name]Audrey[/name] - one of my favourite names. It means “noble”.
- [name]Gwendolyn[/name] - Absolutely sweet.
I think those would all be usable. Or maybe if there’s something like a book or a song that meant something to you, you could pull inspiration from that.
