I signed up to this forum many, many years ago but haven’t posted here in a long while so I feel like I’m out of the name loop.
I have realised, however, that I find way more girls’ names appealing and most of my favourite boys’ names don’t change much (nor are they as interesting). I don’t know why I’m so fussy over boys’ names.
I would really appreciate some suggestions for names you think I might like (I’m open to girls suggestions too but mainly boys). It’s time to shake things up. My favourites are in my signature (if you want to play and make combos that’s also fun)

[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] - really like the sound of this. Not sure whether I’d use it. I’d want to shorten it to [name_m]Shep[/name_m] and that’s a dog’s name imo
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] - I like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] as a nn but not [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_u]Francis[/name_u] is out because it’s my [name_m]SIL[/name_m]'s name

[name_m]Archer[/name_m] - Too close to [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and there’s a million of them here in the UK now

[name_m]Thompson[/name_m] - An incredibly common surname where I live. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] isn’t terrible but nothing special
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] - I actually quite like this one but I don’t think I could see myself actually using it
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] - One of my least favourite names and I couldn’t even explain to you why
I can’t think of a boy’s name beginning with J I’ve ever liked and it was made worse by it becoming the trendy letter here for a long time. As a result names liked [name_m]Joshua[/name_m]/[name_m]Josh[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]/[name_m]Joe[/name_m], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]/[name_m]Jake[/name_m] are all off the table. They’re not even in the same house as the table anymore.
Working with children has also ruined former liked names such as [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_m]Connor[/name_m] or [name_m]Scott[/name_m]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m].
[name_u]August[/name_u] - Nice sounding
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] - Too plain
[name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] - I dislike the ‘[name_m]Ed[/name_m]’ names for some reason. Thank you for not coming at me with [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] - Has the kind of sound I like but I’m not feeling it
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] - lol, my neighbours dog. Also I mentioned my dislike of most boys’ names starting with J

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] - Too stuffy and old-mannish to me
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] - Has the kind of sound I like but [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] doesn’t work for me

[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] - I am quite found of this name. It’s growing on me

[name_m]Romeo[/name_m] - Honestly this has the nicest sound but the associations are just too strong, stupid [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m].
[name_u]River[/name_u] - This has such a nice sound. I’m realising a growing fondness for certain nature names so this has a chance
[name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_u]Luca[/name_u] - Both children I know and dislike
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m] - This has a nice sound but for some reason I can only see it as a cat’s name, I wish I could tell you why
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] - I think this is the only name ending in “ias” I don’t dislike. Maybe because [name_u]Tobe[/name_u] and [name_u]Toby[/name_u] are much softer soundign and take out the harshness of the I sound.

[name_m]Linus[/name_m] - It just has a harsh sound to me. Something about the hard I and S
[name_m]Albert[/name_m] - This is my great grandad’s name so it’s just an old man name to me

[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] - My friend almost called her son this and I was so glad she didn’t. I’ve always found it unpleasant sounding.
[name_m]Ace[/name_m], [name_m]Axel[/name_m], [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] - They all sound awesome but I couldn’t put them on an actual person
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m] - I do quite ike [name_m]Zach[/name_m] and do like it better as a nn for a longer name. Like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] more than [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m]

[name_f]Nala[/name_f] - I’m a big Disney fan. I couldn’t excuse myself using this lol
[name_f]Eliora[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f] - [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is a very common name here and has given me a dislike of pretty much all names starting with “el”
[name_f]Amaia[/name_f] - I’m not sure the pronounciation but all the vowels don’t looks aesthetically pleasing
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] - I have met some sadly unpleasant ones
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - Quite sweet but too close to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] which is very common
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - A part of the eye
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] - This is a nice name but I don’t feel anything about it
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] - I do like this one quite a bit
I find myself thinking of the name [name_m]Henry[/name_m] for whatever reason lately. I also really like [name_f]Briar[/name_f] on a boy but I don’t know if I can envision a grown man with that name.
