[name]Hi[/name]! Husband and I are working on number two, and we’re looking for names that match our theme. Our first daughter is [name]Julie[/name], and to us, [name]Julie[/name] is sort of a down-home, southern kind of name (husband is from [name]Texas[/name] so he’s all about having southern babies, even if we are currently living in New [name]Jersey[/name]!) I have a few that I can think of, and I was wondering if you guys could come up with some more?
for boys, we have:
[name]Beau[/name]/[name]Bo[/name] (not sure of the spelling we’d use)
[name]Casey[/name] (this one is my favorite)
[name]Jack[/name]/[name]Jackson[/name] (I like this one, but it’s really common)
girls:
[name]Magnolia[/name] (can’t get more Southern than that, according to DH, lol)
[name]Memphis[/name] (kind of out there, but I like it)
Here’s a thread of Southern names. It mostly lists girls’ names, but there are a few for boys. Make sure you get to the end for the “[name]Texas[/name] names!”
Oh I love [name]Casey[/name] on boys. Maybe you could name him [name]Casey[/name] [name]Jackson[/name]. I also love the name [name]Memphis[/name], [name]Memphis[/name] [name]June[/name] I think is real sweet. What kind of middle names are you considering?
I love [name]Julie[/name], and also [name]Magnolia[/name] of your current list.
These are names which remind me of the South (I’m in [name]England[/name], though, so beware my judgment!) :
Boys :
Hartford
[name]Lincoln[/name]
[name]Redford[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Sterling[/name] (it’s the whole surname name thing which is especially beloved in the South, from what I’ve read).
Girls :
[name]Bettina[/name]
[name]Camellia[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Lane[/name]
[name]Maggie[/name] (I like this as a nn, for [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Marigold[/name], [name]Margo[/name], anything!)
[name]Virginia[/name] (nn [name]Ginger[/name] makes this one fun and spunky. I’ve recently had the idea that [name]Ginia[/name] could stand on it’s own, which would eliminate the teasing possibility of the full name, but it would also create pronunciation issues and a J-sound theme with [name]Julia[/name].)
Also, vintage nicknames like [name]Dixie[/name], [name]Trixie[/name], [name]Betty[/name], [name]Betsy[/name] and [name]Penny[/name]. [name]Dixie[/name] could be for any D name, in my opinion; [name]Trixie[/name] for [name]Beatrix[/name] or [name]Bellatrix[/name], if you can shake off the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] association; [name]Betty[/name] and [name]Betsy[/name] for [name]Elizabeth[/name], or for [name]Elizabetta[/name]; [name]Penny[/name] for [name]Penelope[/name].
I love [name]Memphis[/name] [name]June[/name], that’s exactly the sound I’m going for. Not “Southern belle”, but more like…rockabilly South, if that makes any sense. I wish there was a better word for what I’m trying to explain, lol.
We’re not real picky about middle names. We’d rather get the first name first and then go from there.
I love [name]Casey[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] for boys. [name]Beau[/name] just seems too incomplete for me. [name]Magnolia[/name] is nice and uncommon but feels a little much next to [name]Julie[/name]. Plus, there’s always the [name]Julia[/name] [name]Roberts[/name] in [name]Steel[/name] Magnolias you’ll have to work around. [name]Memphis[/name] sounds more like a boy name to me. Also, it reminds me of [name]Happy[/name] Feet, so I can only find it fitting on a male penguin who talks with a southern accent.
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Casey[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] (a little too [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Jill[/name], maybe.)
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Brady[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Broderick[/name] ‘[name]Brody[/name]’
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Jenson[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and Jolson ‘[name]Joel[/name]’
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Fisher[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Finn[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Kellen[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Reese[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Nola[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Bridget[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Sara[/name] ‘[name]Sadie[/name]’
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Jenna[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Pippa[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Stella[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Delia[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Dessa[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Alison[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Willow[/name] (You could call her [name]Billy[/name])
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Willa[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Alexa[/name] ([name]Lex[/name])
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Harlow[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Roma[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Fallen[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Veda[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Nina[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] ([name]Penny[/name]/[name]Penn[/name])
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Lola[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Simone[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name] ([name]Jo[/name]/[name]Joey[/name])
[name]Julie[/name] and (Retsy)
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Elisabeth[/name] ([name]Betsy[/name])
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Julie[/name] and [name]Adella[/name]
I’m from nebraska so “country” sounding names are easy to come up with

[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Cody[/name]
[name]Blake[/name]
[name]Lyle[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name]
[name]Brady[/name]
[name]Cord[/name]
[name]Mack[/name]
[name]Toby[/name]
[name]Grady[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Roper[/name]
[name]Clay[/name]
[name]Reed[/name]
[name]Colby[/name]
also… my husband’s last name is [name]Austin[/name] and when he was born his uncle wanted his parents to name him [name]Dallas[/name] [name]Houston[/name] [name]Austin[/name] so that he could call him [name]Tex[/name] for short. I kind of wish they did. lol. it’d be hilarious. especially considering he’s about the most “un texas” person i’ve ever met.
