Help me find my name style?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], everyone! I’m a longtime Nameberry reader and first time Nameberry poster. I would like to know what my name style seems to be!

Please see below for my current top 10 list for girls and my current top 10 list for boys.

I would love to hear what the NB community’s thoughts are on my style overall, as well as if you think my girl name style is different than my boy name style, etc… Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

P.S. I’m not expecting any time soon. I’m just a longtime name nerd.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] @ohmygoshtosh  [name_f]Glad[/name_f] you finally took the plunge and posted!

You have a lovely list. It’s surprisingly hard to put a label on your style!

What I love about your girls’ names is that they’re all very sophisticated, feminine choices, and that’s exactly where their strength lies. They feel regal and dignified, with wonderful strong female namesakes (like [name_f]Athena[/name_f], goddess of wisdom, and [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]'s [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], plus [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]).

Also, although they’re all over the popularity scale, they all feel pretty classic and timeless, even the choices (like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]) which are Top 10 at the moment. They definitely all share a light, flowy sound – lots of vowels, L sounds and S sounds.

Your boys’ names feel like preppy, energetic contemporary classics. There are lots of high-energy sounds, like -er, -o and -ah endings, as well as sharp sounds like X and Z, but they don’t feel hyper-masculine.

Overall, I’d say your boys’ names feel a touch more “modern” than your girls’ names, in that the majority of them are more popular right now than they’ve ever been, but they still all have a long history and a solid, distinguished vibe.

[name_f]My[/name_f] absolute faves are [name_f]Athena[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] for girls, and [name_u]Asher[/name_u], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_u]Jonah[/name_u], [name_u]Milo[/name_u], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for boys.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] @katinka! It’s an honor to get a reply from you, as I am a longtime fan of your work!

I can’t lie, I’m a bit flattered that even a name expert like yourself had trouble putting a label on my style. Makes me feel…unique?

Thank you for the compliments on my list. You’re right that I really do like strong female namesakes. (Ex. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is a family honor name for the woman I admire most, in addition to [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], and my draw to [name_f]Serena[/name_f] is actually based on [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m]!)

I didn’t even notice all of the vowel/L/S sounds in my girl names until you pointed that out, so thanks for that.

So true! I LOVE a “soft” boy name, and I’m a sucker for a classic. I’ve admired your name work in the past as well. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any other soft boy names that you would recommend for me?

So sweet of you!

What an awesome theme to have!

Any additional name suggestions for me to consider based on my style?

How about…
