I love the name [name_f]Hope[/name_f] but I can’t use it for 2 reasons.
- [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is my top boys name. It also starts with H
- No one else really likes it
Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I don’t like the other virtue names…

Well, I personally think you can use [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. I would personally avoid a third name that started with H, but two I do not see as an issue. It doesn’t matter what others think, what matters is what the parents of the child think. So I actually cannot talk you out of [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. I know a young teen named [name_f]Hope[/name_f] and a middle aged woman named Hopie. They are both very sweet, kind people.
I agree. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is such a soft, sweet name, and I don’t understand the people you know who don’t like it. I have to say, you should definitely stick with it:)
If you love the name, I don’t really see how either of those “reasons” are real reasons to not name your baby [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Hope[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] sound adorable together, and I don’t think it matters what anyone else thinks. Personally, I think [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a lovely name with a lovely meaning. There’s nothing offensive or ridiculous about it that could potentially, one day embarrass your child. This is your daughter, and the choice of what to name her is up to you and her dad.
That said, if you like [name_f]Hope[/name_f] but really can’t bring yourself to use it, what about [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], or [name_f]Joy[/name_f]?
Thanks everyone for the response. I really love [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. Anyone else???
Neither of those two reasons are good enough to not use a name you love. First of all, who says you’ll have a boy and a girl? Not sure if you have a partner and/or are expecting, but that could change things a lot too. Keep [name_f]Hope[/name_f] alive!

I agree with pp’s. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Hope[/name_f] aren’t that close and [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a really lovely name. My friend has an 8-year old named [name_f]Hope[/name_f] and with her big blue eyes and sweet disposition, it’s only made me love the name more.
I love [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. Nothing wrong with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Hope[/name_f].
If you already had a [name_m]Henry[/name_m], that seems like a valid concern. But they’re not bad together, and if it’s only that you like the name [name_m]Henry[/name_m]… well, no reason to ditch a favorite because of a theoretical.
If you want some downsides for [name_f]Hope[/name_f], I’m happy to play devil’s advocate:
None of those things seems like dealbreakers to me. I think [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a very nice name.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a lovely name. I vote you keep it on the list.
I dislike [name_f]Hope[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Hope[/name_f]! I also agree with everyone else saying that [name_f]Hope[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] work as really nice sibling names. I’m usually not one for using the same initials but that’s about all these two names have in common; otherwise they’re very different (which is a good thing, [name_f]IMO[/name_f])!

I think [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is really great! Good luck!
The only reason I wouldn’t use it is bc I’m not a fan of short names, but there’s no way to make it longer without making it tacky. But other than that I love it
I don’t think two names with the same initial matter at all and while I personally do not like [name_f]Hope[/name_f] as a name, I don’t think that you should let other people keep you from using it as it’s a perfectly normal name.
However, I also think that if you need to let a name go, for whatever reasons, you don’t have to start hating it but rather look for a new name you love equally if not more.
My first step is to look for names that suit the others I have on my list as I’ve learned that you can grow to love a name (especially spending time on here) but that it is easier if it already fitst in with your list. Then you will not have to think “do these together” in a few months when you’re completely in love with the name.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a wonderful word, but not on my list of favorite names. I am just not fond of the sound of “ope.” However, I can think of many names I like less, and [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a perfectly acceptable name. Go with your heart.
Maybe [name_f]Esperanza[/name_f] - same meaning, but no ‘H’. Doesn’t match well with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] thought. Have to say I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Hope[/name_f], but if you like it go with it!!!
