Help me love a baby brother's name as much as big sis's!

We love our daughter’s name for so many meaningful reasons… Now, if only we can do the same for her baby sibling. I really need some input on a boys name. I posted earlier about [name]Barnaby[/name] but it has been taken off the list (for now!)

Here are our top choices. They are a little all over the place and I do care that they sound good with [name]Violet[/name]. The good thing is that [name]Violet[/name] can be a nature name, literary, and vintage. My style is somewhere in there. Please help me fall in love with a boy’s name as much as I love hers.

Also, last name is four syllables and very italian. I’m not a stickler for mixing ethnicities because my family is from everywhere! I care more about a melodic flow and that it sounds good with big sis. Thanks!

[name]Cormac[/name]- (possible nickname [name]Mac[/name]). I’m loving this right now for literary and nature references.
[name]Leo[/name]- probably my safest choice, but it almost feels too safe?
[name]Jasper[/name]- I worry that this will sound trendy.
[name]Arlo[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name])
[name]River[/name]- loved this forever. Is this going to the girls now?!
[name]Weston[/name]- Husband like this. I’m not so sure.
[name]Holden[/name]

Help!

I think taking [name]Barnaby[/name] off the list was a good idea. However, it would make an AMAZING middle! If you don’t have a middle name already selected, that would be a great option.

[name]Cormac[/name]- (possible nickname [name]Mac[/name]). I’m loving this right now for literary and nature references. - I love the nickname [name]Mac[/name]. I really like [name]Cormac[/name], and it doesn’t really lock you into any one style- [name]Violet[/name] and [name]River[/name] is super naturey, and [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Leo[/name]/[name]Theo[/name]/[name]Arlo[/name]/[name]Felix[/name]/[name]Jasper[/name] is very hipster, but [name]Cormac[/name] isn’t terribly tied to any single style. I think that’s a very good thing.
[name]Leo[/name]- probably my safest choice, but it almost feels too safe?- Well do you like it? [name]Violet[/name] has been shooting up since 1998. [name]Leo[/name] is making a slow comeback- it’s currently #167 ([name]Violet[/name] is 101) and its lowest ranking (in the 80s and 90s) was still in the top 500. I think this makes it an appealing underused classic rather than a boring choice. And yes, it is safe, but that just means that no one will think it’s odd.
[name]Jasper[/name]- I worry that this will sound trendy.- It is trendy. It’s not popular, but it is shooting up the charts really, really fast. It’s also extremely hipster, which I don’t care for. IT’s very tied to that one style.
[name]Arlo[/name]- I love [name]Arlo[/name]!
[name]Felix[/name]- Not my favorite. For me it’s tied to the cat, and I find it a bit boring. I feel like I hear it tossed around too much, always among a similar type of parent.
[name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name])- I really like [name]Theodore[/name]/[name]Theo[/name]! I think I like [name]Leo[/name] a tiny bit more, but I do like this.
[name]River[/name]- loved this forever. Is this going to the girls now?!- No, I don’t think so, but it’s very matchy with [name]Violet[/name]. I’d go for a more subtle nature name.
[name]Weston[/name]- Husband like this. I’m not so sure. - I love [name]Weston[/name]. It’s my favorite here, along with [name]Cormac[/name] and [name]Leo[/name]. I also really love [name]Wes[/name] and [name]West[/name].
[name]Holden[/name]- I like it. Not my favorite, but I do really like it.

[name]Theodore[/name]. [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Roosevelt[/name] was a great president

[name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name]) is my favourite from your list and I think it’s the one that works best with [name]Violet[/name]. It’s a good strong name, classic, beautiful meaning, it would wear well throughout his life.

[name]Cormac[/name] -I wasn’t familiar with this name before you listed it. It will have to grow on me, I guess.
[name]Leo[/name] -does popularity bother you? It’s a great name, but seems very trendy right now -I know 2 babies born this year named [name]Leonardo[/name].
[name]Jasper[/name] -I agree that it sounds a bit trendy and even kind of feminine, even though it is definitely a boy’s name. Maybe that’s because of the gemstone?
[name]Arlo[/name] -nms
[name]Felix[/name] -I like this name too, it’s #2 for me from your list.
[name]River[/name]- This hits the nature name criteria, but not vintage or literary -at least it doesn’t strike me as such
[name]Weston[/name]-this is very much a place name for me, or a hotel (although the hotel is [name]Westin[/name]), I don’t see it for a baby.
[name]Holden[/name] -I can’t get past that this is a make of car in Australia. I couldn’t name my child [name]Ford[/name] or Subaru, I wouldn’t be able to name him [name]Holden[/name] either.

[name]Cormac[/name]- I really like it. Nice litterary associations. Strong Scottish. Goes alright with [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Leo[/name]- Not a huge fan of [name]Leo[/name], it is alright though. Goes well with [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]- Really like, prefer [name]Casper[/name] but it is good too. Great sib set
[name]Arlo[/name]- Ok, a little nicknamey to me. Has a tottaly different vibe than [name]Violet[/name] for me
[name]Felix[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name]. Great combo, I think it is my fav with [name]Violet[/name] on your list
[name]Theodore[/name]- Great AWESOME with [name]Violet[/name].
[name]River[/name]- Not a huge fan. Too modern to mix with very old fashioned [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Weston[/name]- Iffy, I am on the fence with this one. Ok with [name]Violet[/name], not my fave combo you have though.
[name]Holden[/name]- [name]Don[/name]'t like, at all.

[name]Cormac[/name]- (possible nickname [name]Mac[/name]). I [name]LOVE[/name]
[name]Leo[/name]- grea name but yes safe
[name]Jasper[/name]- I dont see it as trendy at all I see [name]Holden[/name] and river as more trendy
[name]Arlo[/name]- great name
[name]Felix[/name]- nice
[name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name])- a little safe but like
[name]River[/name]- i like it better for boys but its trendy to my ear
[name]Weston[/name]- nice name
[name]Holden[/name]- nice but a bit trendy

I vote for [name]Holden[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Weston[/name]. I have a slightly more literary, old fashion style and I like these best with [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Cormac[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name] are nms.
[name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] feel a little trendy for you (though [name]Felix[/name] - [name]Fae[/name]-licks- has been a fav of mine since I was 8).
[name]Leonard[/name]/o ([name]Leo[/name]), [name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name]), & [name]Holden[/name] remind me of great historic and literary figures.
[name]River[/name] is a little too natury for me and reminds me of [name]River[/name] [name]Tam[/name] - but I love the sound and feel.
[name]Weston[/name] no real thoughts except that it has a nice sounds to it.

[name]Violet[/name] and [name]Felix[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] or [name]Jasper[/name]! They sound like a vintage sibset! [name]Love[/name] it!

I love, love, love [name]Cormac[/name]. If my third baby had been a boy, this was the name she would have. We are done our family, and I’ll always mourn the thought of having a little [name]Cormac[/name]. Please use it!
