Here is the dilemma. Hubby and I are thinking of honouring a relative by using their initials, but their name begins with K. I can think of only 1 K name I like, [name]Kai[/name], and that’s for a boy. Would really love to love a K name for a girl, but whenever I see K names, apart from [name]Kimberley[/name] (which is the name of the person in question, and that’s probably the reason I think it looks right, because I’ve seen that spelling for so long), I keep thinking “It should start with a C.” Does anyone else feel this way? And can you please tell me what K names you love and why? Convince me that K names are legit!
I love [name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Kathleen[/name], but you might think those are ‘C’ names. My mom’s name is [name]Kathleen[/name], my sister is [name]Abby[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name], my daughter is [name]Heidi[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name]. I also think of [name]Kyla[/name] and [name]Kayla[/name] as K names. What about [name]Kate[/name]? I’m sure you will figure out something lovely.
[name]Kara[/name]
[name]Keziah[/name]
[name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Kelsey[/name] or [name]Kelsie[/name] or [name]Kelsee[/name]
[name]Kayleigh[/name] or [name]Kaylee[/name]
[name]Kaitlin[/name] or [name]Kaitlyn[/name] or [name]Katlyn[/name]
[name]Kathleen[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Katharine[/name] or [name]Kathryn[/name]
[name]Kylie[/name] < ----- my fave
Kylynn < ------ I know a second grader with this name
Kayla or Kaila
Kaysie <----- I know a girl with this name
Kyra (pronounced Ky-ruh or Keer-uh)
Keerah
Kiera
Keera
Kenna
Kyla
I’ve had the same dilemma! I think I’d like to honor my mom through her initials (KA), but I just don’t love many “K” names. I do, however, absolutely adore the Scandinavian [name]Kaia[/name]. It looks more natural than [name]Caia[/name], I think, and I love how whispy/airy/fairy-like and sprightly it is. It’s so light and airy and I just love saying it. [name]Kaia[/name], [name]Kaia[/name], [name]Kaia[/name]. So pretty and feminine, and it seems like one of those timeless names that could have been used in any decade, but it’s still fresh today. If I thought it fit with my other names more, I would seriously consider it! I love the combo [name]Kaia[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name].
That’s honestly the only real “K” name I can see using as a FN… I do like [name]Kate[/name] as a MN, but honestly, I would use [name]Catherine[/name] nn [name]Cate[/name] in the FN spot. I like [name]Katerina[/name], too, but I slightly prefer [name]Ekaterina[/name] to [name]Katerina[/name]. Still, I think [name]Katerina[/name] looks more proper than [name]Caterina[/name], if that makes sense, although either could work. I also like [name]Kylie[/name] and [name]Krista[/name], although they’re a bit dated and trendy.
Thanks berries for your speedy help! At the moment nothing is really jumping out at me, although I do like [name]Katherine[/name] as a name (just spelled with a C). Also, I noticed that there are a lot of names that are legitimately spelled with a K, I think I’m already coming around on that point.
I must say that [name]Kathleen[/name] is growing on me, but my sister loves it and we’ve agreed it’s hers.
From the lists above, I was reminded of [name]Keira[/name]. Is it too associated with Ms Knightley?
If anyone else loves any K names please let me know and convince me!
Not sure if you want only girls names but I can only think of one K name I like and it’s a boys name.
[name]Keir[/name],it’s gaelic,prn like near with a K
I love [name]Krista[/name], [name]Karis[/name], [name]Keiko[/name] (CAKE-o), [name]Kelly[/name], and [name]Katy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]. Cute name from a gravestone: [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Belle[/name].
Have you ever thought of using [name]Kim[/name] as a middle name - as in (just examples):
[name]Jada[/name] [name]Kim[/name]
[name]Andrea[/name] [name]Kim[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Kim[/name]
[name]Terri[/name] [name]Kim[/name]
[name]Amanda[/name] [name]Kim[/name]
Those FNs aren’t really suggestions - just examples of names that I think go well with [name]Kim[/name].
K names are definitely legit- I think that you are just seeing some names that did start out as C names that were Kardashian-ified, like [name]Kristina[/name], [name]Kara[/name], or [name]Krystal[/name]. Here are some real K names:
