Alleta is cute. [name]Lettie[/name] could be her nickname.
[name]Amelia[/name] is nice too… But don’t change your mind because of others’ reactions.
I think [name]Amelia[/name] is a beautiful name! It’s so classic and feminine and pretty.
Some possible nn’s that I can think of are [name]Mia[/name], [name]Lia[/name], and [name]Amy[/name]/[name]Ami[/name]
I have never heard Alleta and probably a lot of the people reacting that way haven’t either, but it sounds pretty and seems easy enough to pronounce and get used to. I think it’s more interesting than [name]Amelia[/name], but [name]Amelia[/name] is a pretty name. [name]Mila[/name] is a cute nn.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]. It is one of my top choices for a daughter. My favorite NN for it [name]Mia[/name], I just think it gives it a lot of spunk and life [name]Aletta[/name] is nice and the NN [name]Letty[/name] is cute but just not as nice as [name]Amelia[/name] [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Aletta[/name] is adorable! I love it. [name]Allie[/name], [name]Lettie[/name], and [name]Etta[/name] are all adorable nicknames, but honestly, [name]Aletta[/name] on its own is just stunning! It reminds me of the similar [name]Arietta[/name], [name]Alouette[/name], and [name]Althea[/name], which are all huge favorites of mine, but it stands completely on its own… I’ve never come across it before, but I instantly love it. (Too bad your family doesn’t!)
I’m sorry, I doubt I’ll be much help getting you to go for [name]Amelia[/name]. It’s never really appealed to me, and I only ever have small windows of time where I see a bit of its appeal. It feels very old-fashioned to me, which is weird, because I love a lot of old-fashioned names/names that have been around for a long time… I always thought it had a very unappealing sound, too, and I just can’t imagine using it at all. [name]Amy[/name], [name]Millie[/name], [name]Mia[/name], [name]Lia[/name], [name]Mel[/name], and [name]Elia[/name] could be nicknames, I guess. I’ve been considering [name]Elea[/name] (eh-[name]LEE[/name]-ah) as a nn for [name]Eleanor[/name], so I can see the appeal of [name]Elia[/name] for [name]Amelia[/name]. I also like [name]Mia[/name], [name]Lia[/name], and [name]Millie[/name]… It has a lot of versatile nicknames. I also met an [name]Amelia[/name] recently who goes by [name]Mia[/name] and [name]Amie[/name] ([name]AH[/name]-mee… like Mommy without the “M”) as well as her full FN, [name]Amelia[/name]. I thought [name]Amie[/name] was cute, too. Strangely enough, though, I love the similar [name]Emilia[/name]–it holds so much charm and sweetness to me, and I love the nn [name]Emmy[/name] (which probably helps things immensely for me). [name]Emmy[/name], [name]Emma[/name], [name]Em[/name], [name]Millie[/name], [name]Mel[/name], [name]Elia[/name], [name]Lia[/name], [name]Mia[/name], etc., could be nicknames… I only suggest it because it seems similar in style to [name]Aletta[/name], but is really close to [name]Amelia[/name]…
Good luck!
I think [name]Amelia[/name] is very pretty & different. I also like [name]Amelie[/name]. I probably would have considerded using it, but my other daughters name is [name]Malia[/name] and I think it’s a little to similar.
[name]Aletta[/name] is really nice und not to common, but I don’t like [name]Lettie[/name] / [name]Letty[/name] as NN. What do you think of [name]Aletia[/name], [name]Alette[/name], [name]Arlene[/name], [name]Arline[/name], [name]Arletta[/name], [name]Amelie[/name], [name]Amara[/name], [name]Emilia[/name]?
I know it’s pretty common, but [name]Emmy[/name] could also be a nn for [name]Amelia[/name], as I think could [name]Millie[/name]. I like [name]Millie[/name]–not as common as [name]Emmy[/name] or some of the others and very cute! I think [name]Amelia[/name] is a beautiful name btw!
My friend uses the nickname [name]Milla[/name] (like rhymes with vanilla) it is super cute.
Thanks Ashthedreamer… totally lovely reply. I want [name]Aletta[/name] now
I am completely IN [name]LOVE[/name] with the name [name]Amelia[/name]! If this baby #4 is a girl she will be [name]Amelia[/name]…honestly I love the name so much I am not thrilled at the thought of using a nn at all…though I like [name]Mia[/name]/ [name]Millie[/name]. In some places I have seen that [name]Amelia[/name] means ‘to strive and excel’ but I have also seen that [name]Amelia[/name] means ‘work of the [name]Lord[/name]’ and ‘[name]Beloved[/name]’ which I think is just so sweet and special. I like that it is well known enough that no one questions what on earth you named your child and everyone knows how to spell it, it is not trendy - its classic and time tested. So even though it is fairly popular it is not a name that everyone will roll their eyes about 2 years from now. At the same time I am thankful it is not in the top 10!! I love the way it looks when you write it out on paper and the way it rolls off the tongue. It’s completely feminine, classic and strong.
I know an [name]Amelia[/name] - she’s my friends husbands sister. We all call her [name]Millie[/name].
there is:
[name]Amalia[/name]
[name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Aletta[/name] is pretty
[name]Arletta[/name]
