[name_f]My[/name_f] wife loves the name Hekati, spelled just like that. I like [name_f]Hekate[/name_f], but I struggle with the i ending. To me it just feels incorrect. But I know most non name nerds wouldn’t even notice.
They think it’s more intuitive to pronounce (both are pronounced HECK-uh-tee) and according to their synesthesia it’s so beautiful in a way [name_f]Hekate[/name_f] just isn’t. They are willing to go with my spelling in the name [name_f]Hekate[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f], but I can tell they don’t love it as much and I’d like to give loving their favorite name a try.
So what do you think of Hekati?
I’m also wondering if a new middle might help? I love the smooth eeeee-ness of [name_f]Hekate[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f], while Hekati [name_f]Fern[/name_f] feels unbalanced somehow. I might be overthinking it though. Maybe:
Hekati [name_f]Scout[/name_f] (her full name would have aeiou all represented once each, which is fun)
Hekati [name_f]Aviva[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Juniper[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Rain[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Evening[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Fable[/name_f]
I’d love any ideas for middles, hype for the name, sibling names, opinions on the spelling or alternative suggestions.
I do prefer [name_f]Hekate[/name_f], however, I don’t think Hekati is bad. It mirrors other familiar names like [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], [name_f]Remi[/name_f], [name_f]Joni[/name_f], and Kalani; and also other (modern) Greek names like [name_f]Eirini[/name_f] and Ismini .
Hekati [name_f]Fern[/name_f] blends softness and sharpness; Hekati [name_f]Fable[/name_f] is sweet and charming; Hekati [name_f]Rain[/name_f] is gentle but sparky.
Some more middles:
Hekati [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Laine[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Alba[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Oona[/name_f]
Hekati [name_m]Ocean[/name_m]
Hekati [name_f]Juno[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
Hekati [name_f]Louanne[/name_f]
Kalliopi, [name_f]Irini[/name_f], and [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] came to mind
Admittedly I don’t love the Hekati spelling – as someone who is familiar with Greek transliteration it just feels like an odd mishmash of classical Greek transliteration (Hecate / Hekate) and modern Greek (Ekati), which normally wouldn’t bother me that much, but I do mind it more since it’s a religious name. Maybe I’m just a bit of a stick in the mud but I’m iffy about using creative spellings when it comes to names from other cultures, especially with names that are religiously & culturally significant, so I’d personally stick to Hecate or Hekate for your desired pronunciation.
I really like the look of Hekate Fern as well, I think you’re right about the E’s feeling cohesive together! From your Hekati combos I like Hekati Aviva best – similarly to Hekate Fern, something about the cohesiveness of the I’s looks nice to me.
As for the name itself, disregarding spelling, I really like it! I think it has a very cool, out-there feel and a fun, snappy sound, but made really usable with nicknames like Kat, Kittie or Ettie. And I enjoy the mythological connection which I find intriguing and unique!
I would go for Hekate or Hecate - Hekati makes me think it could HeKAAtee and it does seem like it’s of a different heritage than it is.
I think Fern is great choice - it softens the name and it’s fun to say. Fleur or Freya would also be pretty.
Otherwise:
Hekate Pearl
Hekate Louan (LOU-en)
Hekate Beatrice
Hekate Tamsin
Hekate Catherine
Hekate Delphine
Hekate Solstice
Hekate Meadow
Hekate Wildrose
I think a consonant starting letter middle works best.
