Help me love something... anything!

So I am currently 9w4d pregnant, rather unexpectedly, and sitting at home thinking about baby names is helping me fight nausea! Well, except when it comes to boys names. We are going to have so much trouble naming baby if it’s a boy.

I would love some help and suggestions for names we might like!

For inspiration:
[name_u]August[/name_u] - my #1 choice for a boy for the past 3 years, SO is lukewarm. He slightly prefers [name_m]Augustine[/name_m]. NN [name_u]Gus[/name_u].
[name_m]Roland[/name_m] - SO’s top choice, I think it’s okay. It’s after a book character we both love, but is it weird to be named after a [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] novel?? Also, I can’t think of a single reasonable NN that I like.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - we both like but can’t use (it’s the name of SO’s parents’ dog)

Surname will be one syllable, starts with B. MN will likely end in -er, but flow isn’t as big a deal to me as coming up with a boys’ name we can both love. I like softer-sounding boys’ names, and SO has said he likes names like [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] and [name_u]Whitney[/name_u] on boys as well.

[name_f]TIA[/name_f]!

Congratulations. I found that if I made sure to eat all three meals and lots of nutritional snacks in-between (like 2 or 3 snacks in-between each meal) and LOTS of water I could avoid the nausea. I kept pretzels and lemonade on my nightstand at night. When I woke in the night to use the bathroom, I would eat a few pretzels and take a few sips of the lemonade. I was told that the salt of the pretzels and sourness of lemonade would help with nausea. They say you can also suck on a lemon when you feel it coming on.

I adore [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]/[name_u]Roan[/name_u].

[name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_m]Emry[/name_m]
[name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_u]Noel[/name_u] - nohl
[name_u]Casey[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Loren[/name_u]
[name_m]Anson[/name_m]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_m]Aaron[/name_m]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]

[name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Cary[/name_u], and [name_u]Avery[/name_u] are some of my favorite boys names. We love softer boys names too. What about [name_m]Emile[/name_m]- a Latin name? Like actor [name_m]Emile[/name_m] [name_m]Hirsch[/name_m]. Can’t do the little tilde on my iphone- but we love that one. Sounds bad tho with dd [name_f]Lucille[/name_f].

Great suggestions by the other poster too! We had [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] on our list for awhile too. Similar to august [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I love pp’s suggestion of [name_m]Emile[/name_m]. Stunning. I couldn’t get my husband on board with it.

If you both like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] might you consider [name_m]Roman[/name_m]/[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]?

If you like the unisex names how about [name_u]Drew[/name_u], [name_u]Finlay[/name_u], [name_u]Jody[/name_u]?

Thanks btw! Fiancé and I loooove [name_m]Emile[/name_m] but sounds silly with [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. [name_m]Will[/name_m] never get to use it :frowning:

Thanks for the suggestions  so far I like:

@lovemysweeties
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] - I had a coworker named this, would it be weird to use?
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] - we know two Wesleys though :frowning:
[name_u]Avery[/name_u] - I’ve always liked this, but the popularity of it bothers me a little

@timelessclassics - I’m not a big fan of [name_m]Emile[/name_m], but I do kind of like [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] (and again, [name_u]Avery[/name_u]). [name_u]Cary[/name_u] is really handsome on a boy I think, but SO has family members named [name_f]Carrie[/name_f].

@suzywoo - With his LN, [name_m]Roman[/name_m] B____ sounds like a phrase, but I do like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. I love your kiddos’ names btw! [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is very handsome. I know a former classmate (with the same FN as me) named her son [name_m]Silas[/name_m] as well, so maybe it would be weird if we used it? And they would both be [name_m]Silas[/name_m] B. not that they would probably ever meet. Or is that way too picky of me? IDK, I find boys names so hard for some reason!

Congrats! I didn’t have to go through the nausea thing, so I have no helpful hints or tips for coping, but I’m sure you’ve already gotten lots of good suggestions!

As for boy names, I know exactly how you feel. Since before I found out we’re having a little mister, I knew I was going to have trouble with a name for a boy. It hasn’t gotten any easier. Your SO has great taste, at least! [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] is awesome and I love, love [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]. There may be repeats…
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Aaron[/name_m]
[name_m]Eugene[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u]
[name_m]Anthony[/name_m]
[name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Willem[/name_m]
[name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]Alphonse[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]

If you like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], maybe you’d like [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]. It’s one of my favorite boy names!

[name_u]August[/name_u] is one of my favorite names! If compromising with [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] works with you as well, I would go with that.

Congratulations!

I would suggest
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_m]Brant[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Dakota[/name_u]
[name_m]Nash[/name_m]
[name_m]Kent[/name_m]

Thank you very much!
In the grand scheme I don’t think it matters at all if you use [name_m]Silas[/name_m] - yes it is a real coincidence that you and your classmate share a first name and initial and could then have sons named the same but if you are not really in each other’s lives then I say go ahead if you like [name_m]Silas[/name_m] enough.
If this one had been a boy we would have named him [name_u]Seth[/name_u], which I feel has a similar quiet strength to [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. It is not everyone’s cup of tea though. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Eli[/name_m]? Too popular?

I ate a million saltines while pregnant w/my daughter. In the 17 years since her birth I don’t think I’ve eaten a single one. Sure hope the nausea dissipates soon!

So names…I like the pp.'s suggestion of [name_u]Seth[/name_u]. What about…

[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Weston[/name_m]
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]
[name_u]Rohan[/name_u]
[name_m]Kenyon[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Anthony[/name_m]
[name_m]Davis[/name_m]
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]/[name_m]Griffith[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]

Good luck!
