Help me name two teenage boys!

[name]Hi[/name] Berries!

I’m hoping you could help me name two seventeen-year-old friends in my story.

#1 - He’s on the nerdy side and loves science. He’s very intelligent, logical, responsible, and rather quiet. He has long had family issues. I was thinking something short, comfortable, and familiar. I’ve come up with [name]Jack[/name] (too common and forgettable? Is [name]Jake[/name] a better alternative?), [name]Liam[/name] (too common!), [name]Graham[/name] (not sure), [name]Sam[/name] (I’ve always thought of [name]Sam[/name] as a goof though), or [name]Joel[/name] (which I’ve already used for another story).

#2 - He’s passionate about sports (and great at them, too). He likes to throw caution to the wind. He’s smart but doesn’t care much about grades. He doesn’t mind making a fool of himself to make people laugh. He comes from an old money family and has four siblings. I was thinking of [name]Harvey[/name] or [name]Buckley[/name]. I’m aiming for something waspy, and something that is surname-y or that can pass as a surname.

maybe try [name]Steven[/name] for your for the quiet one
and [name]Buckley[/name] and [name]Harvey[/name] aren’t the best names maybe [name]Jayce[/name] I know my names are kinda different then your first decisions but, they just popped into my head

good luck with your book
and whats the story about? that might help

Boy #1: I think that [name]Sam[/name] could definitely work for that character. Something about it kind of works. Other ideas:
[name]James[/name]
[name]George[/name]
[name]Ted[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]

Boy #2: I don’t think [name]Harvey[/name] or [name]Buckley[/name] word work very well. I like the names, but something about them don’t work for me. Other ideas:
[name]Tyler[/name] (first one that popped into my head, I know someone kind of like that name [name]Tyler[/name])
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Avery[/name]
[name]Harris[/name]
[name]Porter[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]

I hope that helps!

1.[name]Ted[/name], [name]Ned[/name], [name]Bill[/name], [name]Hank[/name], [name]Hal[/name], [name]Kurt[/name], [name]Jimmy[/name], [name]Timothy[/name] (long, but works for me), [name]Adam[/name], and I love [name]Sam[/name]. I don’t picture [name]Joel[/name] at all. [name]Liam[/name] isn’t nerdy enough for me.
2. [name]Blake[/name] came to mind.

Thank you so much guys for the suggestions!

[name]Just[/name] as a background, #1 and #2 have a headbutting at first over a girl but soon become very good friends.

For #1, I think you’re right. [name]Sam[/name] could work. I also really like [name]Henry[/name]. [name]Hal[/name] is a good idea, too. Maybe as a nickname for [name]Henry[/name].

For #2, I’m still not sure. :? None of them seem to really fit. I wanted him to be called by his last name – that’s why I wanted something surname-y. And not too “ordinary,” preferably, since he’s from this grand old money family.

I think [name]Grayson[/name] could work for the sporty, rich boy.
Otherwise I quite liked:
[name]Anderson[/name]
[name]Donovan[/name]
[name]Parker[/name]
[name]Perry[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name]

As for your quiet boy, I like [name]Sam[/name]. Especially if you use the full [name]Samuel[/name] occasionally.

Thank you all for suggestions, but I’m still not sure.

I came up with some that may fit for #2. What do you think?

[name]Huxley[/name] (called [name]Huck[/name])
[name]Nick[/name] (for [name]Nicholas[/name])
[name]Palmer[/name]
Woodward (called [name]Wood[/name])
[name]Ramsey[/name]
Hawking (called [name]Hawk[/name])

[name]Do[/name] you think any one of those will work?

Thank you all for suggestions, but I’m still not sure.

[name]Do[/name] you already have a last name in mind for #2 the Waspy sporty guy? Woodward would be a weird first name, but a good last name.
Here are some first names that seem like surnames:
[name]Jensen[/name]
[name]Jett[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Huntington[/name]
[name]Blake[/name]
Hawking/[name]Hawk[/name] (I like this on your list)
[name]Ramsey[/name] (another good one on your list)
[name]Palmer[/name]

Surnames:
[name]Montgomery[/name]
Woodward
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Ford[/name]

Thanks, calimom! Actually, the more I think of it, I think I’m just going to have #2 be called by his last name.

I like [name]Ford[/name]! And I will keep Woodward in mind. What about Pawling or [name]Crewe[/name]?
