Almost due and we can’t pick a name. It’s down to [name_m]Lars[/name_m] (a variation of my mother’s maiden name), [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] (my Dad is [name_m]Charles[/name_m]), and [name_u]Emery[/name_u] (DH’s uncle). We want something cute but strong, and not to common. Last name starts with S, 5 letters and sounds [name_m]French[/name_m] but is [name_f]Indian[/name_f]. Is [name_m]Lars[/name_m] then running into a last name that starts with S too much? Like [name_m]Lars[/name_m] [name_m]Salinger[/name_m]? Too many S’s? Is [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] too common? [name_u]Emery[/name_u] is my least favorite, just because I didn’t know DH’s uncle and therefore don’t feel a connection to it. Help!
In order, I like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_m]Lars[/name_m], and then [name_u]Emery[/name_u].
If you don’t like [name_u]Emery[/name_u], what about [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] or [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? Instead of [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], you could do [name_u]Colby[/name_u], which is less common. Instead of [name_m]Lars[/name_m], maybe [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] (pronounced [name_m]LOCK[/name_m]-lin) or [name_m]Luke[/name_m]? Good luck!
I think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is wonderful!
I think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is your best option. I don’t think it’s too popular, but that is up to you, of course. I like that it honors your dad and i think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is just the cutest name!
So no [name_m]Lars[/name_m] fans?
[name_m]Lars[/name_m] reminds me of the movie [name_m]Lars[/name_m] and The Real Girl. Which is a really strange movie. I just can’t get past that association. I’m sorry I would have to agree with past posters. I like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] the best. [name_u]Emery[/name_u] is nice, but feels and sounds more like a girl’s name to me. [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] might be an option for you. There’s also [name_u]Chandler[/name_u] for a boy. If you like [name_m]Lars[/name_m], there’s also [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] and [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m].
Not a personal fan of [name_m]Lars[/name_m], and not with how it will blend into your surname. [name_m]Charles[/name_m] presents the same issue, but [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is a great name. [name_u]Emery[/name_u] has always reminded me of an [name_u]Emory[/name_u] board, so I’d rank that behind [name_m]Charles[/name_m].
I adore [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_u]Emery[/name_u]/[name_u]Emory[/name_u]. I prefer [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], so that gets my vote. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_u]Emery[/name_u] is very handsome.
They’re all lovely! I would probably rank them [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_u]Emery[/name_u], and then [name_m]Lars[/name_m], but I don’t think you could lose with any of them. [name_m]Lars[/name_m] [name_m]Salinger[/name_m], for example, does sort of run together, but that doesn’t have to be a dealbreaker.
Good luck!
My favourite is [name_m]Lars[/name_m]. I think it’s really cute! Next would be [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] (although I prefer the full name of [name_m]Charles[/name_m]) and third [name_u]Emery[/name_u].
[name_m]Lars[/name_m] is everything you said you wanted it’s a very cute strong and unique name. I think that it ending in a s and the last name starting with an s is cute and still flows well
I hadn’t thought of [name_m]Charles[/name_m] ending in S and running with my last name. The full name would be [name_m]Charles[/name_m] even though we’d call him [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. [name_m]Lars[/name_m] is probably my top pick I guess. I hadn’t thought of [name_u]Emery[/name_u] sounding like a girl name!
[name_m]Lars[/name_m] sounds perfect to you! I don’t think the surname is a problem with it. I like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] after [name_m]Lars[/name_m] and, like you, [name_u]Emery[/name_u] is my least favorite.
I don’t think the names starting/ending with s is a bad thing. Most of the time, he wouldn’t be using his full name anyway. I think [name_m]Lars[/name_m] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m] ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u]) are totally fine. [name_m]Lars[/name_m] is less common than [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], but [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] strikes me as cuter. [name_u]Emery[/name_u] sounds more like a girls name to me and is just not my style (plus, you don’t seem that sold on it anyway).
Would it be odd/confusing to have your Dad [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and little [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] around? In that case maybe [name_m]Lars[/name_m] is the way to go.
[name_m]Lars[/name_m] is fantastic! I dont think the two s’s will be much of a problem, but [name_m]Lars[/name_m] really does spund like the best option for you. [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] are just a little lackluster next to [name_m]Lars[/name_m], which stands out in good way and is refreshing to hear.
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is a great name. [name_m]Lars[/name_m] is my least favourite.
Other suggestions
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] could honour [name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_m]Sven[/name_m]
[name_m]Eric[/name_m]
[name_m]Larson[/name_m]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u] or [name_u]Layne[/name_u]
I love [name_m]Lars[/name_m]! I’d say go with that or [name_m]Charles[/name_m] (which I love too). Congrats on your new baby!
My favourite is [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]! Good luck!
Well I hadn’t thought about [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] being weird with my Dad being [name_m]Charles[/name_m] (someone mentioned that might get confusing), but my Dad actually goes by [name_m]Wayne[/name_m], and [name_m]Charles[/name_m] is a big family name. My brother is [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] and his son is [name_m]Chas[/name_m]. And my name is a female variant of [name_m]Charles[/name_m], close to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. So I have thought about my name and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] being too similar in the same house… to PP who mentioned [name_m]Larson[/name_m] that would be the full name and [name_m]Lars[/name_m] is nn.
