Hello! I’ve seen some other threads like this on here and it’s something I’ve been struggling with for a really long time. I’ve always really hated my name and I’ve been wanting to change it, but I’m so obsessed with naming characters and such that I’m a bit swamped and overwhelmed by choice. I want a name that suits me, I’m very interested in literature, history, and fairy tales, and I’d like it to be something unique with meaning though not so off the wall it seems unbelievable. I was hoping I would see a name one day and just feel drawn to it but instead all I’ve really got is this big list of names I’ve sort of hoarded over the years that I really like for different reasons. If anyone could give me their takes on them/any suggestions I’d super appreciate it! (And don’t be afraid to let me know what sounds terrible/too much I very much need to hear it!)
Also it’s worth noting that I would quite like a middle name too if there are any combinations that seem nice, but I also do have a four-syllable German surname which I’ve found makes a lot of longer names a bit of an issue.
So many lovely names. I can see why it’s hard to pick one. I was immediately drawn to [name_u]Briar[/name_u]. Based of your likes. I like how [name_u]Briar[/name_u] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is specifically related to sleeping beauty, and you said you were interested in fairy tales and literature. So this gets my vote. I think briar would work with a long surname too.
I like [name_u]Camille[/name_u] from you list best! I also like [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_u]Briar[/name_u], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u], [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
Thank you! [name_u]Briar[/name_u] was one of the first names I considered, I’m definitely thinking on it again! And it does work with my surname. Thank you for suggesting!!
If I could mash all of those together I absolutely would, I think you probably picked all of the best ones out of my list! Thank you for suggesting, it does help me narrow things down a bit!!
I have always loved [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] is also beautiful and honestly I think they could flow together. [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] or [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], I absolutely love either one of those.
Hello, what a great thing you’ve decided to do! I am quite getting tired of not liking my own name too, so your choice is surely gonna inspire me.
Some combos from your lovely list:
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_u]Seren[/name_u]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f]
[name_u]Camille[/name_u] [name_u]Briar[/name_u]
[name_f]Runa[/name_f] [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] (I think both would work wonderfully separately, too, esp. with a [name_m]German[/name_m] surname, and both have a fairytale feel to them)
You have so pretty names on your list! I came here to suggest [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], like also a lot [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Some other names that I was thinking about when you mentioned you like fairy tales:
What a lovely set of names! I really like [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_u]Camille[/name_u], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f], [name_u]Seren[/name_u], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
