[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are expecting a baby in [name_u]March[/name_u]. It’s too soon to know the gender, but we already have a boys name picked out. I’m having trouble with girls’ names though and thought I’d check with all of you to get some suggestions.
Here are the rules: Our last name is [name_m]Graves[/name_m], so no place names, descriptive names, dark names, etc. And my husband says no single syllable names-- this applies to both first and middle.
So far the one name we both agree on is [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], so we might end up using it in the end, but I’d like a few more options too.
Here are names I would consider but haven’t found the right pairs yet. Most of these I prefer as middles, but would consider for firsts with the right combo.
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
Here are names I like but can’t use:
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Rachel[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
Any names you think I might like? Any good combos?
I really like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] from your list!

I really like [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]! It’s familiar yet unique. I love all the names on your list. You can’t go wrong with any of those.
Thanks everyone! I love the suggestion of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]-- I’ll have to see what DH thinks. I also really like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], but am concerned that the initials FEG are too close to a different word and could be tease-worthy.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] are also beautiful names I’ll add to my list of possibilities.
While I do love the the names [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], and [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], they are names I can’t really use because of people I know with those names.
Between your list and all of the suggestions, I really do like [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] the best.
Unexpected pairing and it’s really bright and fun but will age well too.
I also liked these suggestions from previous posters:
[name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f]?
I love the sound and look of [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_m]Graves[/name_m] (also spelled [name_f]Madeline[/name_f].) Or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_m]Graves[/name_m]. Or any alike combination.
Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions and a special thanks to Grackym for the suggestion of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. While DH didn’t like that particular combination, we were able to use it to add another name to our top choices: [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].
If anybody else has other suggestions, please feel free to chime in. We’re still looking for other gems we’ve overlooked.
