I’m having a crisis of style. I think I’ve been obsessing a little too much. All the names I was so sure of a month ago sound overwrought and high-falutin’ to me now. Please take a look at some of these names in different styles and let me know what you think. Our last name starts in “S” rhymes with “hack.”
The long and fancies:
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Minerva[/name] (I still love this one)
[name]Magnolia[/name] (this one too)
The short and complicated:
[name]Aoife[/name]
[name]Roisin[/name]
[name]Anouk[/name]
[name]Elke[/name]
Laerke
[name]Leonie[/name]
Short and strong:
Kitri
[name]Billie[/name]
[name]Frida[/name]
[name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Hero[/name]
I like the idea of your long fancy names in FN with one of the others as a MN. If your last name is one syllable, another one syllable name might sound too choppy. and TBH I’m not a huge fan of one syllable first names (just my opinion, obviously)
With that said, a middle name might be a good spot to put one of your ‘complicated’ names, as you get to use a name you love without the pressure.
I love all your long names and i’m so-so about the rest (I love [name]Elke[/name] though).
[name]Henrietta[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] - although I know Susannahs who go by Suss, so might clash with your last name
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] NN [name]Billie[/name].
[name]Elke[/name] [name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Frida[/name] [name]Roisin[/name] (although I don’t fancy [name]Frida[/name])
[name]Minerva[/name] [name]Hero[/name]
[name]Minerva[/name] [name]Hero[/name]. OMG. That’s one of the most amazing names I think I’ve ever seen. I would never have thought of putting those two together. For some reason, I wasn’t thinking about any of these names for the middle slot. It might be a little bit of an overdose of mythology, however.
I worry about one syllable names with our last name. I think you’re right, it might be a little choppy, although my SO’s first name is is one syllable. In his case though, there’s are two repeated letters that I think help unify and soften his first and last.
I would avoid names with a prominent “s” sound ([name]Agnes[/name], [name]Tess[/name], [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Roisin[/name]) with your one-syllable “S” surname. I think a 2 or 3-syllable first name with one-syllable mn would be fine.
