Help me rename Audrey! [Take 2]

I’ve slowly been working toward getting this character renamed, because I unconsciously named two girls in my series/story [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (and of course that doesn’t work, as they’re both main characters!). I’ve decided which one is going to stay [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], and I’ve moved on to renaming the other.

The one I’m renaming grew up half in the US, half in Australia–her dad was American military, and was stationed at [name_m]Pine[/name_m] Gap, the US-Australian joint base near in Northern Territory. Now that she’s grown up, she works as a big-name caterer (owns her own business) that caters especially to famous celebrities and government meetings and such. She’s pretty much a heartbreaker wherever she goes (although unintentionally!)–she sort of just has this power to make men fall in love with her (the first casualty being her best friend, [name_m]Jack[/name_m], who is eventually her love interest). She’s very kind and patient, hardworking, determined, maybe even stubborn (although she’d call it tenacious). She is confident in who she is. She’s usually very intelligent/sharp, understands things intuitively–except for where her relationship with [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is considered, because he fell for her the moment they met in school, and has been pining after her ever since. She doesn’t even realize the depths of her feelings for him, for years upon years upon years. She has a good heart, though, and hates hurting others, even accidentally, and always wants to help others when she can. She doesn’t give up. On anything, really, especially if it matters to her. I have three names I’ve been thinking of ([name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]), for her.

With [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], I see her as Italian American in origin (even though [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]'s not necessarily Italian), and being a bit more bold and confident. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] strikes me as an excellent chef’s name, for some reason. Very distinctive, and memorable. If I used [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], her surname would be [name_u]Dell[/name_u]'uomini.

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] I had considered before I really had a good feel for her character. I feel like she needs a more familiar, down-to-earth name–[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] almost feels too flashy for her, at times–and I think she could be an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or a [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. If she were, I think she’d be more on the sweet side than the bold side. I also like that these aren’t “A” names. [name_m]Jack[/name_m]'s and her story would be book two in a series, and so far, all the lady romantic interests are almost all “A” names (all but two so far), so I feel like, for the last two love interests I need to get settled, it’d be nice if I didn’t leave poor [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Lotte[/name_f] all to their lonesome. If she wasn’t an [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], she wouldn’t have the surname [name_u]Dell[/name_u]'uomini, and I’m not sure what I’d use instead.

Anyway. I waffle between the flashy, memorable [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]Dell[/name_u]'uomini and the more demure-feeling [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] “[name_f]Liv/name_f/[name_f]Livia[/name_f]” and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. Does one suit her more, to you?

Thanks, writer berries!

I think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] suits her better than the other names.

I also think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] works well, it’s right on the line between [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I also think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] works the best for that character.

I prefer [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] too! Though I don’t think it sounds all that demure. It’s familiar but a bit exotic - which definitely makes me think of a girl who grew up between two countries - and it has a zippy sort of sound that makes me think very much of catering, which seems like an exhausting job.

I agree that [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is very gentle, but [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] has always seemed like a pretty energetic name to me (probably because of the leading Z), and the Zoes I’ve known have been quite bold. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], because it’s quite elaborate, it doesn’t feel as bright as [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] does.

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] fits her so perfectly!
Good luck with your book :3
