Help me replace Eden :(.

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] name rant.
A girl I know from high school (not even really know I guess, but know of, and we have lots of mutual friends, and she has a big instagram/blog following) keeps using my favorite baby names! She had a [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] a year and a half before I had mine, and I debated the whole time I was pregnant if I wanted to use, it because it’s pretty uncommon and I didn’t want to ‘steal’ it. I did end up using it, because it was my favorite, and we don’t live near them and won’t see them hardly ever except at one mutual friend’s events. But, she just had baby #2 and named her [name_f]Edith[/name_f], and I wouldn’t use two of the same names! I was debating between [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u], but they’re both too close probably.
Anyway, looking for replacements! We have a 1 year old named [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], and other girl names I like:

[name_u]Eden[/name_u]/[name_f]Edith[/name_f] :frowning:
[name_f]Marceline[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]

I thought that list would be long enough, but my husband doesn’t love [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], and I need more than one option!

I really like [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] from your list! I think using [name_u]Eden[/name_u] would be alright, but, if you really don’t want to, here’s some suggestions:
[name_f]Noa[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]

[name_m]How[/name_m] frustrating! Yes, I would definitely choose something different the second time around.

I would not have come up with [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] but I think it pairs really well with [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] because of the subtle “r” connection and the fact that they are both 3 syllables. I also think they are equally strong/stand out names.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] & [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] - YES!

What about [name_u]Ivory[/name_u]? You could call her evie or ivy for short. I fell in love with this name but DH vetoed it ”

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_u]Jael[/name_u]
[name_f]Drusilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Elara[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_u]Adair[/name_u]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Tilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]

@willa
The good news is that [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] is my favorite, but [name_u]Eden[/name_u] was #2 and my safer option. I’m hoping her boys list is very different, or that we have one first, because I only have one boy name right now!

I know sisters [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] & [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]. I do like [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] from your list.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] sound amazing together. Suggestions:

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]

It’s just the worst when things like that happen! Ugh! If I were you, I’d still use [name_f]Edith[/name_f] but I see your point about it being too much with [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]…
Have you considered [name_f]Edie[/name_f]?

@thefairophelia
They’re already calling her [name_f]Edie[/name_f], and that’s likely what mine would go by mostly, so not likely.

What an uncanny coincidence! If I were you I’d use [name_u]Eden[/name_u] anyways, it doesn’t sound like you really talk to her much or anything so it wouldn’t be confusing, and she wouldn’t necessarily have to know either. (Not saying you should lie if it ever comes up, but you don’t have to make a point of telling her either.) Or you could let her know ahead of time and have a laugh about how you guys both have such great taste :stuck_out_tongue:

[name_f]Marceline[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] are both lovely with [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] though! They all have a spunky, modern feel.

I understand not wanting to repeat both names, but I actually don’t think [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] are too similar. Although they share similar sounds I think that [name_u]Eden[/name_u] gives off a much edgier vibe than [name_f]Edith[/name_f], and results in the names giving a very different image. If you still like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] I would go for it, because [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] are adorable names and match very well together.

I also think that [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] sounds nice with [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], but I actually prefer [name_u]Eden[/name_u].

I think [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] is a great match for [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. I also love [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].

[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Eudora[/name_f]

[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f]
[name_f]Mathilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottiline[/name_f]
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] ([name_f]Winifred[/name_f]/[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/[name_u]Wynn[/name_u]/[name_u]Winter[/name_u])

Aww, I also love [name_f]Edith[/name_f]/[name_u]Eden[/name_u]. I wonder if you could use [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] nn [name_f]Edith[/name_f] ?

I also love [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f]/[name_f]Elyse[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], etc.

In a different vein, but you might like Sage , Ilona, Lenora, Laurel or Natalie

@bonfireazalea
We have a few close ish friends in common, and it’s already come up a few times with them that our daughters have the same name. Honestly, I’m sure the worst that would happen is that she’d be a little annoyed, but I put a LOT of thought into my names, and the thought of anyone thinking I was copying her is too much for me!

@beort12
We would both end up calling them [name_f]Edie[/name_f] though, so I do think it’s too close :frowning:

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]! I also love [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] AND [name_f]Edith[/name_f]! Currently considering all of these names, haha, so I’ll just give you some suggestions from my own list:

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Frida[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]

FWIW, I would avoid [name_u]Eden[/name_u]/[name_f]Edith[/name_f], too. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] used to be one of my favorite names, until a total of four (!) acquaintances, in various circles, used it within five years of each other. Having someone with two babies with the same names would be too much for me.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] would be gorgeous together!

Here a some suggestions for inspiration, a mix of styles:

[name_f]Evadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] (my guilty pleasure name, I think its bold and unexpected)
[name_f]Avis[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Patricia[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Margret[/name_f]
[name_f]Althea[/name_f]

@yellowplums
It’s seriously the worst when people use your names! Like, yes, you could use it still, nothing would explode, no one would die, but it totally ruined it for me. I’m glad that my tastes are mostly a little uncommon, and that I’m not waiting another 5 years to start having kids!

Thanks everyone! You’re making me feel a little more confident about using [name_f]Marceline[/name_f], and I like a lot of your suggestions also!
