Help me sort out Declan!

I have the first middle sorted ([name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]), but I can’t seem to settle on the second. Neither [name_m]Declan[/name_m] nor [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] have family ties (with the exception of [name_m]Declan[/name_m] honoring my Irish roots), so I’d like the second middle to honor family, but I’m not thrilled with my family ideas for [name_m]Declan[/name_m] so far.

I think maybe I need a fresh set of eyes. I’ve already honored my dad and brother way more than any other family member, so I’ve eliminated working with options with their names, and all I’m left with is a bunch of girls’ names ([name_f]Karen[/name_f] [name_f]Arlene[/name_f]. [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]. [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]. [name_f]Arlene[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f].). Any suggestions how to honor any of these names on a little boy? Since [name_m]Declan[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] are both two syllables, as is my surname, my only requirement is that the second middle doesn’t have two syllables ([name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Arlen[/name_u] [name_m]Roberts[/name_m], for example, sounds awkward and lacklustre to me. I usually don’t care about syllable flow, but I draw the line at 2-2-2-2 flow. I think it sounds pretty awful.). My sister and I both have one [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] name in each of our names, so [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] names are good, too.

I’ve tossed around [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], and [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u], and those are my favorites so far, but I just feel like they’re not right, somehow. I’ve also tossed around [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]–I like that it gets in both of [name_f]Becca[/name_f]'s initials (although not in order), and it honors my Welsh ancestry on my dad’s side–but somehow it feels like it’s not close enough of a connection.

Any other suggestions?

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Rene[/name_u] ([name_f]Natalie[/name_f] relates to ‘birth’, [name_u]Rene[/name_u] means ‘reborn’, and also functions as a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] theme.) Also, stressing the 2nd, rather than first, syllable improves the flow.

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Noel[/name_u]

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Noel[/name_u] (English Pronouciation NOL)
[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Karl[/name_m] (Karen/Karen Arlene)
[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Natale[/name_u] (nah-[name_m]TAH[/name_m]-le)

What about [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] for [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]?

@ikfly - thanks for the two lists! I liked [name_u]Pax[/name_u] and [name_m]Claus[/name_m] and a few others ([name_m]Balthasar[/name_m], [name_m]Melchior[/name_m], [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m], etc.! I love the [name_f]Magi[/name_f] names!), as well as [name_m]Serafim[/name_m]/[name_m]Seraphim[/name_m] (not exactly on there, but I think it’s cool and has a fun Russian vibe). I’m always searching for good [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] lists, and never seem to be able to re-find the good ones. I have never been a fan of the [name_u]Nat[/name_u]- names too much–[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] and [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] don’t really do anything for me, and [name_u]Natale[/name_u] just seems too much like [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]–I find it hard to picture it on a boy. [name_m]Karl[/name_m] could work, but it seems like quite a stretch, honestly. I don’t really think my mom would ever sense it was in her honor, and I’m not a huge [name_m]Karl[/name_m] fan. I do like the look of [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Noel[/name_u], but I don’t really like the sound. [name_m]NOLE[/name_m] just never sounded that appealing to me. And regardless, I’ve never really been able to “see” the boys’ versions of [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Renee[/name_f] on boys. They seem pretty girly to me. I suppose they would work, though. I just don’t love them.

I’m tossing around [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Pax[/name_u], [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Serafim[/name_m] (sare-ah-feem), [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Balthasar[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Melchior[/name_m], etc. Any of those work? I always thought the latter three were just too crazy next to [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], but I’m not sure. I still like [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] (and maybe [name_u]Frost[/name_u] and [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]) from before, too. Any other ideas?

I feel worst about neglecting my poor middle sister–it seems like I never honor [name_f]Becca[/name_f], but I’m honestly not sure how to? I could do [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Beck[/name_u], I suppose, but I wasn’t ever fond of just [name_u]Beck[/name_u]… I don’t know. Any other way to honor a [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] on a boy?
