Help! My husband and I can NOT agree on a name - 6 weeks to go!

[name]Baby[/name] Girl is due next month… and the naming stalemate continues!

My husband wants [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Marie[/name], which I like and had agreed to YEARS ago before its mega-popularity - but now I really want to stay out of the Top 10. I love [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Belle[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Louise[/name], but he’s basically given an H-no on those.

[name]One[/name] of the few names we both like is [name]Lucy[/name] (and I love the nickname [name]LuLu[/name]) but there are 2 problems: (1) my sister has said she likes it and would want to use it for a baby girl she may or may not have in the future; and (2) I’m not sure I like it with our last name, which is supposed to be pronounced like “muscle” but most people think it’s “moo-sil” by looking at it. Am I crazy to care what a name looks like it would be on paper/base decisions on people’s MISpronunciations?

Any other ideas? I’d love to have a “lou” sound in there somewhere. Siblings are [name]Abigail[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] [name]Bradley[/name].

I think [name]Luella[/name] is sweeet and you could use [name]Lulu[/name]… you could also use [name]Lucille[/name] or [name]Lucia[/name]…belle would go lovely with all of them…what do you think xx I wouldnt focus too much on the last name people would get used to it xx

I love [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]… [name]Lucy[/name] is cute but I’m not a fan of [name]Lulu[/name], so that turns me off of it.

[name]Abigail[/name], [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] make a great sibset! Have you considered [name]Sophie[/name] instead of [name]Sophia[/name]? Or still too popular?

If your DH doesn’t like [name]Louisa[/name], what about [name]Laura[/name] nn [name]Lulu[/name], or [name]Eloise[/name] nn [name]Lulu[/name]? Either of those would work well with [name]Abigail[/name] and [name]Jack[/name], [name]IMO[/name].

What about [name]Lucinda[/name]? I think it is such a pretty name and would for sure get you to [name]Lulu[/name]!

I love the suggestions of [name]Lucinda[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name]! Perhaps, [name]Lucia[/name] [name]Belle[/name] or [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]?

Maybe you could try [name]Luca[/name]? Neither of you seem to like frilly names, but you could add a K or H at the end to make it more feminine if you like, so it would be [name]Luka[/name] or Lucah. Pair it with a really girly middle and there you go… Perfect route to [name]Lulu[/name].

[name]Lucy[/name] is sweet, and I love the suggestion of [name]Luella[/name]! It’s lovely.

Also, as an alternative to [name]Sophia[/name], how about [name]Sonia[/name], [name]Sasha[/name], [name]Sadie[/name], [name]Selma[/name], [name]Naomi[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Estelle[/name], or [name]Susanna[/name]?

[name]How[/name] many [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]'s do you actually know? It may be in the top 10 nationwide, but is it where you are? [name]Isabelle[/name] is #1 but yet I only know one & that one isn’t even in my area…5 states away.

Have you thought of flipping [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Marie[/name] around? [name]Maria[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] would be a gorgeous compromise - [name]Maria[/name] never goes out of style, but it’s not uber popular at the moment. I think [name]Abigail[/name], [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Maria[/name] make a wonderful set.

[name]Sophia[/name] maybe a top name but I have never ever met any and I only know one little [name]Sophie[/name]

[name]Sophia[/name] [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Marie[/name] are pretty.

[name]Louella[/name]
[name]Alouette[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] (love)
[name]Louise[/name] (also love)
[name]Lucienne[/name]

You can get to [name]LuLu[/name] using any of the above. Also if you both like [name]Lucy[/name] then use it…first in best dressed!

I like [name]Louisa[/name], very pretty and I also like [name]Sophia[/name], maybe if you had [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Eloise[/name] you could nn her [name]Lulu[/name] anyway? Or [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Lou[/name].
I liked pp suggestion of [name]Eloise[/name] as it is similar to [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name]- [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Sophia[/name].
Since DH like [name]Sophi[/name]a perhaps [name]Elois[/name]a [name]Sophie[/name] nn [name]Lulu[/name]- also opens the option of [name]Ellie[/name]/ [name]Elle[/name] as nns. [name]Eloisa[/name] is not anywhere in the top pops- and has that vintage feel.
What is it he objects to about [name]Louisa[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name]? What is it you object to about [name]Sophia[/name]? narrowing that down will help you choose a name.
As for [name]Marie[/name]… I think it sounds like the mn of someone my age not a new baby, bit dated unless it is chosen to honor someone special.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions - some great ideas here! I’m feeling reenergized enough to start up negotiations again. My hubby generally seems opposed to anything he deems too old-fashioned or exotic… wish me luck!
