We want to name our baby girl after my father in law, who’s name is [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]. I’m not sure how to make this into a girl name. I like the name [name_u]Finley[/name_u], but my husband doesn’t think that would count as naming her after him since the spelling is different. I’m not sure I like Phinley. I need help! Any thoughts or ideas would be great!!! (-:
Does he have a middle name? If you don’t like any of the choices connected to his first name, the middle often helps. I think that [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is a great way to honor a [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]. The sounds are there – spelling can be secondary. Perhaps:
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] or [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or Zéphine
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] or [name_f]Delphina[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_f]Phyllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
I think [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is cute. What about [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]?
I think [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is adorable and definitely usable as an honour name for [name_m]Phineas[/name_m].
[name_f]Orella[/name_f] and [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] have the same meaning as [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] (oracle), so perhaps that could be an idea?
I second the idea of taking his middle name into consideration for an honour name
My first thought was [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is my first thought as well. Also, you could consider his middle name as inspiration.
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] are my suggestions.
