So I’ve started a new story and while I have named the MC [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_u]Shaw[/name_u], I am not entirely sure her prim and proper mother would give her daughter - the heiress and important member of society because at birth she was chosen for an exchange - a name that wasn’t particularly elegant/formal/etc. I do love the name, but I’m not sure anymore…
The boy hasn’t been introduced yet so I don’t know much about his character, but I know he will be kind and helpful, possibly a medic. I have zero idea for a name for him, but I don’t like very common stuff like [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Paul[/name_m], etc.
Have fun!
I actually love the name [name_u]Carson[/name_u] but am already using it in an old story of mine!
[name_m]Clement[/name_m] and [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] are probably my favourites from that list though I’m not sure they’re quite out there enough… but maybe
Most really posh women have middle names, you could have your character have a different, more traditional first name but let her choose to go by [name_u]Arden[/name_u]. Depending on the tone of your story, you could choose a name she hates in an amusing or serious way. A friend of mine hates her name [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] because it means “love and obedience” and she doesn’t want to be obedient. Something like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Patience[/name_f], [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] or [name_f]Grace[/name_f] could help characterise her as strong willed or rebellious by her rejecting it.
I love the idea of her having a super posh first name! And the amusing meaning idea you mentioned is great, I think I’ll definitely look into that! I always have fun researching names
