[name_m]Hi[/name_m] nameberry community.
I’m currently searching for names for our expected baby girl.
I love [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but my husband pointed out that it was actually big brothers name-[name_m]Silas[/name_m] without the s on either end!
I also love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] but wondering if it sounds silly with our last name which ends with the ie sound.
My possibles are
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f]
Also have family name of [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f] to consider as a possible choice or middle name?
Any help or even name suggestions welcome!
[name_f]Liesl[/name_f]/[name_f]Liesel[/name_f] would be sweet w/[name_m]Silas[/name_m], and it has the sounds you seem to like.
You have a lot of lovely names on your list!
Considering your son’s name, I am not fond of [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] - they are nice names otherwise, but all have the long “I” sound in the first syllable and I feel like that makes them overly matchy with [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
Out of the rest, my favorites are [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], and [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. All of those are absolutely beautiful and sound great with [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
If [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is your favorite and you still want to use it, I like it as a middle. [name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] sounds very nice. Used as a middle, the name avoids sounding too much like [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
Other possibilities with [name_f]Isla[/name_f] as a middle:
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] ([name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] sound awesome as siblings!!)
Good luck!
I’m crazy about the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f]! I really like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] too. I would do [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Estella[/name_f] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].
I really think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] are much too close to [name_m]Silas[/name_m] to be considered options, too many “I” sounds!
Out of your other choices I really enjoy [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (with [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] you can still use [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] as a nn and it may please your ears when said with your last name. I’m sure [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] would also sound fine. Unless it would end up being something similar to the very silly [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] Gillies then I think you’re fine!)
I think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] could be an easy way to honor [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], with that in mind [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] sounds nice enough. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] works in nearly all of these names middle name spots, I think.
Some other combos I threw in with your choices are:
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]/[name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
Good luck!!
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
