Help name our little man! What are your thoughts on alliteration in a name?

We are expecting our first child after a long road. We could not be more excited! We found out this month that we are having a boy- woohoo!

For as long as I can remember my husband has always loved the name [name_m]Miles[/name_m], he automatically has started calling him that…I am not quite there yet. My hesitation is not the name, I love [name_m]Miles[/name_m]. My hesitation is that our last name is very close to Mitchum. I am not completely sold on the alliteration. When I say it aloud I am not sure if it is just too much. I am asking for help!

Middle Name would be:
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
or [name_m]Christoper[/name_m] all are family names

My question is…does [name_m]Miles[/name_m] Mitchum work? I have said it to myself too many times to decide anymore!

Thank you!

Congrats on your boy!

I think it works perfectly fine. The alliteration makes it sound memorable and catchy.

I think it works

I think it works.

I think [name_m]Miles[/name_m] is fine with [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] or [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], but [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] kind of trips me up with Mitchum.

It works wonderfully! [name_m]Miles[/name_m] and Mitchum share the same first 2 letters but they have different “i” sounds. [name_m]Long[/name_m] “i” vs short “i” so it works. If it was [name_m]Miles[/name_m] Michaels, that would be a bit more difficult.

[name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is my favorite combo

Alliteration can actually work to make a name more attractive and memorable. [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] Comics has has used the alliteration of names for years to help readers remember the names of superheroes (e.g. [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_u]Parker[/name_u], [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] [name_m]Banner[/name_m], [name_f]Sue[/name_f] [name_u]Storm[/name_u], etc.). There is even a character called [name_m]Miles[/name_m] Morales.

[name_m]Miles[/name_m] Mitchum sounds like a charming name for a future superhero!

I really love alliteration in names! For some reason I especially like it for boys. I think [name_m]Miles[/name_m] sounds like a great option

[name_m]Miles[/name_m] Mitchum sounds great! A bit like a superhero.

I totally agree with @bettekathleen - alliteration is fabulous when it works and really makes a name stand out. I think [name_m]Miles[/name_m] “Mitchum” sounds strong, memorable and cool.

I love it! [name_m]Miles[/name_m] Mitchum sounds great. I think [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] Mitchum works the best.

I think it works! But I love alliteration. [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] Mitchum is such a handsome name. I love your other mn choices as well.

[name_m]Miles[/name_m] Mitchum is fantastic!

I think it works. If you aren’t sold what about it as a middle name. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_m]Miles[/name_m] is cute.

I love the alliteration. It makes for a stand-out name.

I think [name_m]Miles[/name_m] Mitchum is a great name! I love [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], I think it’s very handsome.

(congrats on the baby boy!!)

As an adult, I think he’ll value having a memorable name!
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] Mitchum, MWM, neat!

I like some alliteration. I think its memorable and superhero like. [name_m]Miles[/name_m] Mitchum isn’t a tongue twister so I say go for it! I like [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] and [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] as middle name options.

I think it works great! Esp. [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Bennet[/name_m]! If it were [name_m]Miles[/name_m] and the last name was and another short last name that began with m like [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Mills[/name_m] it would sound awkward. [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] Mitchem sounds classy, proper uet fun loving!

I like it!
