[name]Hi[/name], I’m new to the forums, looking for some help to name my boy/girl twins end [name]March[/name]/beginning [name]April[/name]. At least, we’re 90% sure they’re boy & girl, expected miss has been in awkward positions for most of the pregnancy so far, but they haven’t found anything to say both are boys!
Our boy will be [name]Harry[/name], no second guessing that one, named after my father who was killed in an accident when I was young. My husband knows how much the name means to me and how much I want to honor him by using it. Problem is that he’d also like to honor his father in the middle name (which is also his middle name), [name]James[/name], which I love the sound of together…but as a [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] fanatic on top, I don’t know if JK Rowling has made that combination too unusable now!
After some thoughts on [name]James[/name] as a middle name, and some suggestions on a girls name to go with [name]Harry[/name]. We both love [name]Hailey[/name], but know its way too similar for a twin, or really in any sibset!!!
[name]Harry[/name] amd [name]James[/name] as a combo are fine. They’re both common enough that I don’t think most people will make the HP assumption. If the names were [name]Severus[/name] and [name]Hagrid[/name], you might have a case.
First, contratulations on your twins!
[name]Harry[/name] [name]James[/name] is a lovely combination. I don’t think people will immediately jump to the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] combination, especially if your ln doesn’t sound like [name]Potter[/name].
As for girls names, is there anything you like other than [name]Hailey[/name]? It is easier to give good suggestions with a list of things you like.
Names I’m loving right now that my husband isn’t so sure on are:
[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] or [name]Mya[/name] (prn. may-a & my-a)
[name]Just[/name] to name a few off the top of my head right now…
My husband prefers:
[name]Jacquelin[/name] (after his mum who he’s actually estranged from!)
[name]Tahlia[/name]
[name]Anya[/name] (I think too similar to my name, maybe more of a mn?)
[name]Georgia[/name]
We’re at least agreed on [name]Harry[/name] [name]James[/name] now, thanks for your input. I do love the combo and I know a mn isn’t so frequently used but did worry slightly…and baby brain seems to be making every little thing huge for me right now! Now the only problem is agreeing on his sister, neither of us are keen on the others suggestions, and both have a lot of women in our lives we could honor. But he has a very complicated relationship with his mum and doesn’t see her much, so I don’t exactly want to suggest more of my family names while knocking his back.
Lastly, we’re not entirely convinced any of our name choices actually go with [name]Harry[/name] - we want each twin to have their own individual name of course, but I would still like some kind of flow, just stuck really on where to go!
Congrats to you! [name]Harry[/name] [name]James[/name] really is a great name, and to be fair I don’t think you will be using it in full often enough that many people would notice the connection. (But I am very pro-HP names… I actually used the mn [name]James[/name] for my son Because of it being [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]'s so I’m a bit biased in favor of it, haha). [name]Just[/name] on the off-chance that you end up with two boys I also think [name]Harry[/name] and [name]James[/name] would be great brother names. For girl’s names, as long as you have already considered [name]Lily[/name], I think pretty much anything goes, haha. There is also the option of similar names to the one you like such as [name]Bailey[/name] or [name]Kaley[/name], or the semi-similar [name]Leila[/name]. Good luck! =]

I don’t think [name]Harry[/name] [name]James[/name] is “too [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]” as nothing can be. It’s sweet and classic. I would use a longer form of [name]Harry[/name].
[name]Jacquelin[/name] comes from [name]Jacques[/name] the french form of [name]James[/name]. So naming your daughter [name]Jacquelin[/name] would be giving her the same name as her twin brothers middle name. Please don’t.
For your daughter:
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Edith[/name] nn. [name]Edie[/name]
[name]Elspeth[/name] nn. [name]Elsie[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Moira[/name]
[name]Petra[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Theodora[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
My husband actually did suggest [name]Lily[/name] at one stage, and I do love it, and really did consider it, but just thought if I’m anxious enough about [name]Harry[/name] [name]James[/name], then [name]Lily[/name] would completely cross over that line!! I’d need another boy girl set later to cover [name]Ron[/name] & [name]Hermione[/name] lol
[name]Harry[/name] [name]James[/name] sounds royal & classic, so I think you should choose something classic &/or royal for little miss. [name]How[/name] about:
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Kathryn[/name] or [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
…
[name]Don[/name]'t worry on that one, I’m completely against naming her that, it’s my husband who wants it and I really can’t fathom why! Let’s just say the law caught up with his mum and she’s where she belongs right now, yet despite what she’s put him through, he still feels this loyalty to her that only a son or daughter can. Yes, she’s my mil, but I don’t want her being an influence on the babies lives and don’t particularly want any namesakes for her! However, didn’t even cross my mind the connection, so maybe I can convince my husband she is being honored in our son’s name!!
My favourites from current suggestions would be [name]Audrey[/name] (similar to my [name]Aubrey[/name]), [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name], will test those waters with DH! Thanks!
I love [name]Elizabeth[/name] too, but think that would tie the twins down with another association - too current royal family! Might put it on the maybe list…
Seriously wishing my husband wasn’t so opinionated on what they will be named lol, then I could work off my favourites in peace!
I agree with the other posters: traditional and classic to go with [name]Harry[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Constance[/name]
I like [name]Alexandra[/name] as well.
[name]Millicent[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Harry[/name] does have a certain quirkiness (it is, after all, a pet name for [name]Henry[/name]) that isn’t really embodied by a lot of the [name]Royal[/name] choices. Here are classic but less elegant options:
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Jane[/name]
[name]Elsbeth[/name]/[name]Elspeth[/name]/[name]Elsie[/name]/[name]Eliza[/name]/[name]Libby[/name]
[name]Kate[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name] (Repeat, I know, but so good)
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]
I prefer these less flowery girl names honestly, and I think my favorites are [name]Harry[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] or [name]Harry[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name]. [name]Harry[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name] also has charm.
If he likes [name]Georgia[/name] & [name]Anya[/name], & you like [name]Alexandra[/name], how about [name]Georgiana[/name]? Has your name in it…and nickname “[name]Georgie[/name]” - [name]Harry[/name] & [name]Georgie[/name] is cute.
[name]Edit[/name] -I went a little more popular on most of my first names based off your both liking [name]Hailey[/name] but I see you like [name]Charlotte[/name] as well, which I think goes great with [name]Harry[/name]! [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] is lovely.
What about [name]Hazel[/name]? It still has the “Hay” sound like [name]Hailey[/name], but the only similarity to [name]Harry[/name] is that they both start with H. They both have a “what’s old is new” quirkiness I think. Also, have you thought about using [name]James[/name] as you little girl’s middle name?
Thanks for all the suggestions, our list has now expanded to 17 options to try and narrow down! I’ve convinced DH to keep [name]Alexandra[/name] & [name]Mya[/name] on the short list on condition we also keep [name]Tahlia[/name] & [name]Georgia[/name].
We’ve added on:
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Mila[/name]
[name]Ava[/name]
There are so many wonderful names here so far, thanks so much for all your suggestions, it’s just so hard to find something we both absolutely love!
