Ok, I’m due soon and have had the hardest time deciding on girls names… We have a son and his name was decided very early on ([name_u]Owen[/name_u]) it is a strong male name and also a family name which we both liked.
…I feel so much more pressure naming a girl. Boys can live with anything. For some reason I feel more weight on making a long term commitment to a girls name.
Our last name is [name_m]Wood[/name_m] so we also have to be mindful of not creating locker room jokes later in life. ([name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] [name_f]Holly[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] [name_f]Ima[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] etc etc) lol
Names I like:
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] Annalane [name_m]Wood[/name_m] AAW ([name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_u]Lane[/name_u] are both family names)
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (nickname [name_f]Ella[/name_f]?) my husband thinks its too old.
L names:
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]
[name_u]Lindsey[/name_u]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
Etc…
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
Any feedback/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
This is so funny! Our last name is [name_m]Wood[/name_m] and DS is [name_u]Owen[/name_u]
My favorite on your list is [name_u]Lindsey[/name_u]! Very pretty and can’t think of any jokes (that part is so hard with our last name, huh??) I also like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and love the NN [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
Out of sheer curiosity, were there other names you considered for [name_u]Owen[/name_u]? It took us a long time to come up with his name!
Hey,
I really like [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Laura[/name_f]/[name_f]Lara[/name_f] with [name_u]Owen[/name_u].
Have you considered [name_f]Lacey[/name_f]?
Mamatoo, so funny! Lol
My husband and I loved [name_m]Landon[/name_m] but knew several ppl using the name. I always had a name crush on [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and don’t really know any [name_u]Owen[/name_u]'s (since association can kill names for me.) Then we found out it was my husbands G-Grandfathers name, big plus. So it was really just the 2 choices for us
I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Ella[/name_f], but keep in mind the lead character in Legally Blonde was named [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]. If that connection doesn’t bug you, then I think it’s perfect!
I really like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] with [name_u]Owen[/name_u]; it means light, like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] does, which probably means they’re distantly related to each other lol. I think having a 1 or 2 syllable name with [name_u]Owen[/name_u] fits really well, plus I like the nickname [name_f]Lu[/name_f]. [name_u]Owen[/name_u] isn’t overly masculine, and its down to earth, and I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] isn’t overly feminine, and is down to earth as well.
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-[name_u]Lane[/name_u] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u] would be cute.
I like [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] with [name_u]Owen[/name_u], but it feels slightly dated…
What about [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]? I feel it’s a bit more timeless (as [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is), and has the appeal of the two L sounds
My second choice would be [name_f]Lena[/name_f], which could also be a nn for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!
I was about to say the same thing as silverr and suggest [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]. It feels more modern. I feel all the ‘L’ names you listed are a little bit dated. Also, [name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is [name_u]Ronnie[/name_u] Woods daughter I do think a two syllable ‘L’ name fits well with [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and surname [name_m]Wood[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]? Or [name_f]Luella[/name_f]… That way you still get [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f] if you want… Though lulu is so cute!!
