I am very indecisive, when choosing our first son’s name I went through list after list choosing my favorites, I rearranged the lists, narrowed them down little by little with my husband’s help until we finally chose [name]Ryder[/name] for our Boy.
Now we have decided to try again and I am beginning to obsess again! I have already narrowed down my lists to these, My lists were 30+ for both boys and girls before! I am looking for outside input to help me decide what would work best with [name]Ryder[/name] and to maybe give me an “[name]Ah[/name] ha!” moment to figure out what I am genuinely in love with for both a boy’s and girl’s name. So please help! Give your input on each of the names I have here, please don’t hold back your opinions! Thanks!

[name]Ripley[/name]
[name]Samara[/name]
[name]Thalia[/name]
[name]Tinsley[/name]
Okay-not going to hold back
[name]Axel[/name]-I love it, my DD wouldn’t consider it b/c of the axel rose connection- it may be in the category of [name]Cher[/name] and [name]Madonna[/name]-not really useable, but a great name nonetheless. It is more unique than [name]Ryder[/name] but still has a similar feel
[name]Asher[/name]- its nice, I think about the connection to ancient idol worship of Asherah- fertility goddess
[name]Beckett[/name]- great, perfect with [name]Ryder[/name], classic, pronounceable
[name]Chace[/name]-I like [name]Chase[/name] better but I don’t like either much
[name]Emmett[/name]- like [name]Beckett[/name] but not as strong, I think that hard /ck/ in [name]Beckett[/name] really adds something that [name]Emmett[/name] is missing
[name]Grady[/name]- I think some combo of grody and gravy
[name]Holden[/name]- I like it, love the literature connection,
[name]Jaxson[/name]- too popular, the [name]Jackson[/name] spelling makes more sense to me
[name]Kellan[/name]- I like [name]Kieran[/name] better
[name]Kieran[/name]-its a great, classic Irish name, I don’t see the connection to [name]Ryder[/name]-very different feel to me, but they both have the similarity of not being super-masculine but not unisex either
[name]Logan[/name]-[name]Love[/name] this one, I think Babysitters Club immediately ([name]Mary[/name] [name]Anne[/name]'s boyfriend and alternate club member) but i doubt anyone else would!
[name]Luca[/name]- [name]Love[/name] the name [name]Luca[/name], I think one of the surname-y names would fit better with [name]Ryder[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]-([name]Emmett[/name])
[name]Slater[/name]-Saved By the [name]Bell[/name]
[name]Talan[/name]- fantasy video game character
[name]Terryn[/name]- girly
Girls
[name]Analeigh[/name]-nice
[name]Arabella[/name]-I like if you are cool with the [name]Bella[/name] nickname
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Arleigh[/name]-the spelling feels a bit clunky but I really like it, love it with [name]Ryder[/name], maybe spelled [name]Arley[/name]?
[name]Aurora[/name]-very lovely
[name]Callista[/name]- [name]One[/name] of a few names for girls that is not common but is still fairly easy to spell & pronounce and feels familiar without being overly popular
[name]Elle[/name]-I like a lot of your other picks better, this is a nice middle name, maybe [name]Thalia[/name] [name]Elle[/name]
[name]Farrah[/name]- Fawcet
[name]Hayden[/name]- so much more unisex than your other picks, not my style
[name]Isla[/name]-[name]Love[/name] [name]Isla[/name], great choice, the fact that [name]Ryder[/name] also has the long /I/ sound would be my only hesitation
[name]Kendra[/name]-boring compared to so many of your other choices
[name]Layla[/name]/[name]Leila[/name] (can’t decide on spelling)- I like [name]Leila[/name] but this one is too trendy for my tastes, its a great name though, the alliteration of the L makes it really lovely on the tongue.
[name]McKinley[/name]-I can only think of the mountain
Raena-Like this one but like the next one even better
Raeya- [name]LOVE[/name] it! The R-R would bug me
[name]Ripley[/name]-personally like the other R names (Raena, and Raeya) better
[name]Samara[/name]- nice, again much more unique than [name]Ryder[/name], not crazy about it
[name]Thalia[/name]- great pick, love the name
[name]Tinsley[/name]- this is a nice name, I don’t think I have ever met a little [name]Tinsley[/name], really goes well with [name]Ryder[/name], and very light sounding
Top 3 for Boys:
[name]Beckett[/name]
[name]Kieran[/name]
[name]Logan[/name]
Top 3 for Girls:
[name]Kendra[/name]
[name]McKinley[/name]
[name]Thalia[/name]
Names I didn’t like or that didn’t go well with [name]Ryder[/name]: [name]Axel[/name], [name]Chace[/name], [name]Holden[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Slater[/name], [name]Talan[/name], [name]Terryn[/name], [name]Analeigh[/name], [name]Arabella[/name], Raena, Raeya, [name]Ripley[/name], [name]Tinsley[/name], [name]Samara[/name], [name]Aria[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] thanks you are definitely making me look at the names in a different light. [name]Love[/name] the input
For [name]Grady[/name], I always think of it as a combo of [name]Garrett[/name] and [name]Brody[/name]… for [name]Arabella[/name] I saw someone suggest once the nn [name]Aira[/name] and I think its adorable. Raeya I actually made up when I was writing a story in middle school and I’ve been inlove with I since! [name]Tinsley[/name] is my guilty pleasure name… It was a main character in a book I read when I was younger and its been stuck in my head since!
[name]Love[/name] hearing input please keep it coming!
Boys:
[name]Axel[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like it with [name]Ryder[/name]. And both sound like they can be related to bikes. ([name]Rider[/name] person on the bike, [name]Axel[/name] part of the bike.) A bit themed for me.
[name]Asher[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Asher[/name], but I don’t think it goes well with [name]Ryder[/name]. Different style.
[name]Beckett[/name] - Really like this one with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Chace[/name] - I prefer [name]Chase[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t like it with [name]Ryder[/name]. “The [name]Rider[/name] was chasing the ???”

[name]Grady[/name] - I like this one. Underused, could sound good with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Holden[/name] - Not bad, don’t like it with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Jaxson[/name] - I prefer [name]Jackson[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t like it with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Kellan[/name] - Could work. Prefer [name]Beckett[/name] or [name]Grady[/name] over this one.
[name]Kieran[/name] - See [name]Kellan[/name].
[name]Logan[/name] - Sounds too soft next to [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Luca[/name] - Like this one with [name]Ryder[/name]!
[name]Sawyer[/name] - Used too much on girls now. Some people might think you have a boy and a girl.
[name]Slater[/name] - Saved by the [name]Bell[/name].
[name]Talan[/name] - Prefer [name]Talon[/name]. Like this one with [name]Ryder[/name]!
[name]Terryn[/name] - Prefer this for a girl.
Favorites with [name]Ryder[/name]: [name]Talon[/name], [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Grady[/name] and [name]Luca[/name].
Girls:
[name]Analeigh[/name] - Not a fan.
[name]Arabella[/name] - Not bad. It could work with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Aria[/name] - Like the name. On the fence on how it sounds with [name]Ryder[/name], though.
[name]Arleigh[/name] - Not a fan.
[name]Aurora[/name] - Like this with [name]Ryder[/name]!
[name]Callista[/name] - Like this with [name]Ryder[/name]!
[name]Elle[/name] - Like the name, but not with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Farrah[/name] - Not a fan. Seems dated next to [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Hayden[/name] - Boys name to me.
[name]Isla[/name] - Like it with [name]Ryder[/name]!
[name]Kendra[/name] - Dated next to [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Layla[/name]/[name]Leila[/name] (can’t decide on spelling) - Prefer [name]Leila[/name]. Not bad with [name]Ryder[/name].

[name]Tinsley[/name] - Good with [name]Ryder[/name].
Faves: [name]Samara[/name], [name]Thalia[/name], [name]McKinley[/name], [name]Callista[/name], [name]Aurora[/name]. Good: [name]Tinsley[/name], [name]Leila[/name], [name]Aria[/name].
I’m probably not much help with the girls! Sorry!
My favorites from your list are:
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Holden[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Beckett[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Chase[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Leila[/name] (although I like [name]Layla[/name] too)
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Thalia[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Callista[/name] (nn [name]Callie[/name])
I would take out the names ending in -er as they are hard to say with [name]Ryder[/name]. Also, several of the boy names ending in -N seemed to get swallowed up next to [name]Ryder[/name] because it’s such a strong name.
A few other possibilities:
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Bram[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Cole[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Grant[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Seth[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Tess[/name]/[name]Tessa[/name] (or [name]Therese[/name]/[name]Teresa[/name]/[name]Teresia[/name])
[name]Rider[/name] and [name]Viveca[/name]
[name]Rider[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Rider[/name] and [name]Delia[/name]
Thanks soo much for the input! [name]Feel[/name] free to keep it coming!
Still could use some more feed back please!
Thanks
Any more opinions/suggestions out there? I still need help deciding!
You have a wonderful list!
Boys:
-
[name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Beckett[/name]: This is my favorite b/b combo from your list. I think that it sounds perfect!
- [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Axel[/name]
- [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Logan[/name]
- [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Emmett[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]: Not fond of how both boys would have the same -er ending, unless you want to continue this trend in all of your subsequent children I wouldn’t use it.
[name]Chace[/name]: Although it sounds good with [name]Ryder[/name], personally, I don’t like how a more popular alternative spelling ([name]Chase[/name]) exists.
[name]Grady[/name]: I like this name, but it doesn’t work with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Holden[/name]: This is my favorite name for a boy! Unfortunately, I don’t think that it sounds good with brother [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Jaxson[/name]: [name]Love[/name] the “x” in the name. Again, not fond of how a more popular alternative spelling ([name]Jackson[/name]) exists.
[name]Kellan[/name]: I do prefer this spelling over [name]Kellen[/name].
[name]Kieran[/name]: I like this name, but it doesn’t work with [name]Ryder[/name]. It’s far less common than [name]Ryder[/name] and doesn’t make for a good match, [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Luca[/name]: I’m indifferent towards this name.
[name]Sawyer[/name]: [name]Love[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name], but it has an -er ending.
[name]Slater[/name]: The -er ending.
[name]Talan[/name]: I prefer [name]Talon[/name].
[name]Terryn[/name]: I prefer the name [name]Taryn[/name] for a girl.
Girls:
-
[name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Kendra[/name]: Works great together, and you could also substitute [name]Kendra[/name] with [name]Kendall[/name] if you like.
- [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Hayden[/name]: Very close second!
- [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Analeigh[/name]
- [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Callista[/name]: [name]How[/name] about using [name]Calixta[/name] instead of [name]Callista[/name]? If you use [name]Calixta[/name], I would rank this #3 as opposed to #4.
[name]Analeigh[/name]: It’s okay.
[name]Arabella[/name]: Too frilly/girly with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Aria[/name]: I like this name, but not sure if it sounds good with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Arleigh[/name]: I prefer [name]Analeigh[/name].
[name]Aurora[/name]: doesn’t work with with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Elle[/name]: doesn’t sound good with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Farrah[/name]: love this name too! [name]Just[/name] doesn’t sound too great with [name]Ryder[/name], because [name]Farrah[/name] is so underused.
[name]Isla[/name]: doesn’t work with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]McKinley[/name]: Not fond of any names beginning with Mc, sorry.
[name]Layla[/name]/[name]Leila[/name] (can’t decide on spelling): I prefer [name]Leila[/name], but I don’t think that it sounds good with [name]Ryder[/name].
Raena: Not a fan. Although I do prefer Raena over Raeya.
Raeya: Not a fan.
[name]Ripley[/name]: I like it for a boy, but not a girl.
[name]Samara[/name]: My first association with the name is the main antagonist in The [name]Ring[/name].
[name]Thalia[/name]: love this name too! [name]Just[/name] doesn’t sound too great with [name]Ryder[/name].
[name]Tinsley[/name]: not a fan.

B/G: [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Ainsley[/name], [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Peyton[/name], [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Teagan[/name]/[name]Tegan[/name], [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Roxanne[/name], [name]Ryder[/name] & [name]Jordan[/name]
