Help naming a mafia romance FMC - tend to lean toward GN names

General backstory: This is for a mafia romance, because I grew tired of seeing the FMC freaking out about the “sanctity of marriage” and being angry about marrying a hot man for money. (I mean, let’s be real here, if someone offered me 1M for a two year marriage to someone who is hot??? and I get to live lavishly??? Even with the risks… yeah, I’m going to do it. Anyway-)

The idea here is that the MMC owns a casino enterprise as their legitimate business, to cover up their not-so-legal activities (one being an underground fighting ring). He gets into a scandal, and to avoid negative publicity, he asks the FMC - that is his assistant - to marry him (as he’s the most eligible bachelor in the city, of course). This way the publicity will be on their quick engagement, marriage, etc. instead of the scandal. General indifference towards each other leads to greater feelings as they peel back the layers of each other (of course there will be drama and stuff).

What I need help with is the FMC’s name. I do tend to lean toward gender neutral names, but it’s not a requirement. Obviously, she gives no s**ts about a fake marriage for money, has a laid back attitude, and is generally playful and witty. She’s more of like a go-with-the-flow type of person. Last name I chose for her was Riviera (however, it’s not set in stone).

Name’s I’ve considered and why (if there is a reason):

Parker - (Potential playful nickname used by MMC: Sparks)
Ember - meaning spark, burning low (potential nickname: Em)
Asher - meaning lucky, blessed (potential nickname: Ash) cute for casino cause, luck
Cora - meaning core, heart, and an alternate name for Persephone
Raine - meaning queen

Please select one from the list above, and add a suggestion if you think of any (including a last name change if needed). TYSM (((:

from the options, i like spunky parker with the fun nickname sparks
ember would be my runner up

but i have to butt in, asher doesn’t mean lucky - it’s ‘happy’ roots in hebrew’, raine - as far as i know, the only queen connection is french, like the database says, but that is reine, not raine. raine looks like the trendy rain with an e.

some ideas,
reine - queen in french
reina - ruler, ruling, whatever conjugation you like best
whitney - nn whit (wit)
ace - maybe as a nn?

[name_m]Parker[/name_m] is great - and [name_m]Sparks[/name_m] is good fun - I really like that - catchy and memorable, but also plausible!

I’d second @aren’s suggestion of [name_f]Reina[/name_f] and maybe through in the ideas of

[name_m]Luca[/name_m] / [name_m]Luka[/name_m] (Lucky as a nn?)
[name_m]Channing[/name_m] / [name_f]Chantel[/name_f] / [name_f]Charlene[/name_f] (Chance as a nn?)
[name_m]Casey[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Ace[/name_m], credits to [name_m]Aren[/name_m] for that one)
[name_m]Blaise[/name_m] / [name_m]Blaize[/name_m] / [name_m]Blaze[/name_m]

I really appreciate your feedback, and you’ve given me a lot to think about. [name_m]Parker[/name_m] obviously being the no. 1 contender with sparks.

[name_m]Ace[/name_m] would be so cool as a nickname but unsure of how to proceed with that.

I thought the same about [name_m]Parker[/name_m], but got nervous, as one does LOL.

I do love the potential for Luca/Luka.
[name_m]Channing[/name_m] with “Chance” is great.
[name_m]Casey[/name_m], definitely a strong contender for [name_m]Ace[/name_m]. I wonder what other names I could uncover with that idea.

[name_m]Blaze[/name_m], funny you should mention, I have a hard time with because I want to name my first child that (given I have that opportunity in my lifetime, I’m all about GN names for my future kids just incase they know who they are and it wasn’t what I had anticipated, I hope to give them an easier way in this life… unless they decide they don’t want that name either, totally fine lol) But it’s special to me because of that reason and I don’t want to exploit that into a character.

@ilovehockeybaby glad you liked some of these!!

I totally get that about not wanting to use particular names on a character! There is a selection I wouldn’t consider, because once you’ve given them to a character, they feel different!
