help naming a new puppy

i need some help naming a new baby girl golden retriever. i know others have asked for advice in naming their pets, but i actually have a few criteria i need to meet. the name has to have a strong consonant in it and be 2 or less syllables (or the nn must be 2 or less, the full name can be more). training books say that both of these make it easier for the dog to understand their name. my current dog is named calliope nn callie, so i would like another name that goes with this. a happy name that is a bit unusual. thanks!

My dog’s name is [name]Kyra[/name] and my in-laws have [name]Kali[/name]

Here’s some more:

[name]Mercedes[/name] nn [name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] nn [name]Tillie[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] nn [name]Quin[/name]
[name]Cadence[/name] nn [name]Cadie[/name]
[name]Clover[/name] nn [name]Clo[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] nn [name]Immy[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] nn [name]Lettie[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name] nn [name]Trixie[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name]
[name]Varinia[/name] nn Rini
[name]Lolita[/name] nn [name]Lita[/name]
[name]Adina[/name] nn [name]Addie[/name]
[name]Cortana[/name] nn [name]Cort[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name]/[name]Delia[/name]/[name]Cordi[/name]

My first thought was [name]Regina[/name] nn [name]Gina[/name]! Awesome name!

I’ve had three syllabic R names on my mind today, and they all do the trick:
[name]Renata[/name] nn [name]Rena[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this one!
[name]Rowena[/name] nn [name]Ro[/name]/Rowy
[name]Ramona[/name] nn [name]Remy[/name]?

[name]Livia[/name] nn [name]Livy[/name]
[name]Pandora[/name] nn [name]Dora[/name]
[name]Prudence[/name] nn [name]Pru[/name]
[name]Rosetta[/name] nn [name]Etta[/name]
[name]Saskia[/name] nn [name]Kia[/name]
[name]Irina[/name] nn [name]Rina[/name]
[name]Clarity[/name] nn [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Bryony[/name] nn [name]Bree[/name]
[name]Ariadne[/name] nn [name]Ari[/name]

I had [name]Matilda[/name], nn [name]Tilly[/name], when I was a kid.

[name]Destiny[/name] could also be nned [name]Dessie[/name]

I vote for “[name]Clio[/name]” off of Ricamaca’s list of suggested names. Because [name]Calliope[/name] and [name]Clio[/name] were sister Muses in Greek mythology. And [name]Callie[/name] & [name]Clio[/name] go great together!

– [name]Nephele[/name]

[name]Clio[/name] is a great idea!

I take naming pets very seriously. Although I’ve never had a dog (we might get one after my twins are born, though) I had a hamster named Whistle, whom I really miss right now. :d

[name]Galen[/name] has always been a favorite of mine, for pets and babies alike! [name]How[/name] does [name]Clio[/name] and [name]Galen[/name] sound together?

Oops, sorry, I have to go. I’m in a rush. Something . . . happpened . . . in the hospital (yes, I’m expecting RIGHT NOW).

Er, sorry. !!

I think [name]Phoebe[/name] would go quite well with [name]Calliope[/name]!

Or, perhaps you would like a name that is another of the nine muses’ names, like [name]Calliope[/name]. The nine muses, and their domains, are as follows:

[name]Calliope[/name] - epic poetry
[name]Clio[/name] - history
Erato - lyric poetry
Euterpe - music
Melpomene - tragedy
Polyhymnia - choral poetry
Terpsichore - dance
[name]Thalia[/name] - comedy
[name]Urania[/name] - astronomy

Some of these names are rather inaccessible for today’s English speakers, so I would recommend either [name]Clio[/name] or [name]Thalia[/name] ([name]Lia[/name], [name]Tally[/name]) for your baby girl (puppy)!

Best of luck!

my girl kitten is [name]Paloma[/name], [name]Polly[/name] or [name]Lola[/name] for short but mostly just [name]Paloma[/name].

good luck

[name]Juniper[/name]- [name]Junie[/name]

[name]How[/name] about [name]Shelby[/name]?

thanks to everyone for your suggestions! i really like
right now. it definitely seems like clio is a front runner because not only does it have the strong C at the beginning its short and also matches calliope which is awesome!
