Help naming baby brother!

Hello! We are expecting baby boy #2 this spring and we are SO stuck on the name. Our first [name_m]Son[/name_m] is [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]-- pretty American, haha, so I feel like we can’t go too crazy on the second boys name. My husband likes [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_m]Samual[/name_m], but he also likes [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] and [name_m]Axel[/name_m].

I like [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_m]Cohen[/name_m], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_m]Deacon[/name_m], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. But I fear [name_m]Luke[/name_m] & [name_m]Ben[/name_m]/[name_u]Sam[/name_u] is too plain?
(We wouldn’t put [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] on the bc. It would be [name_m]Ben[/name_m]. Same with [name_u]Sam[/name_u]. No [name_m]Samual[/name_m]). Husband dislikes [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] and [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] and they’re my favorite

We don’t want to go too biblical, i.e., [name_m]Luke[/name_m] & [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. Hubby doesn’t want a name that’s too long to spell or sound like we’re trying too hard to have a different name. Ugh. The struggle is real!

Middle name options: [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], Braven, [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Cohen[/name_m], [name_u]Noah[/name_u]

Any new input is welcome!!!

Some short first names that are more unusual than [name_u]Sam[/name_u] or [name_m]Ben[/name_m]:

[name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]

I quite like [name_m]Ben[/name_m] or [name_u]Sam[/name_u] with [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and they aren’t too plain, just good solid names. Other suggestions with [name_m]Luke[/name_m]…

[name_m]Rhett[/name_m]
[name_m]Brock[/name_m]
[name_u]Tate[/name_u]
[name_m]Clarke[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]

[name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] or [name_u]Sam[/name_u] would be perfect together.

I like [name_m]Ben[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m], [name_m]Ben[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] or [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] best. I like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] a lot too but not sure how the flow is as a middle name.

Agree that [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u]/[name_m]Ben[/name_m] don’t sound too plain, or [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] if you’d be willing to use it as a first.

I also like the previous suggestions of [name_u]Dean[/name_u], [name_u]Reid[/name_u], [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] and [name_u]Tate[/name_u].

Other short-ish, non-biblical options based on your list:

[name_m]Alec[/name_m]
[name_u]Cade[/name_u]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]

These are fabulous ideas! I’m bringing them to the hubbs for some input, as we hope to announce the name on [name_u]Christmas[/name_u].
(We have 6 friends also having boys before me, eeekk)

Only a gentle heads up about announcing baby’s name before he’s born as you are new on this forum but there are many posts about people being upset because when they announced the name, they received unkind comments/looks or negative feedback and then felt insecure about using the name they loved. I hope that doesn’t happen to you but just remember that he is your baby to name and it’s a good thing that we don’t all love the same names :). Good luck and enjoy your [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] celebrations!

I love Luke! I think Luke Ryan and Sam Jeffrey makes a good sibset? Or what about Theo? Theo Cohen is a lovely name for example.

Some more suggestions:

Wills
Cole
Owen
Walker
Cody
Jacob nn Jake
Henry nn Hank
Mack
Archie
Gage
Brooks
Nico
Zack
Vince

I also really like the middle Braven with any of the above names (how lovely is Archie Braven?)

Good luck!

[name_m]Ben[/name_m] & [name_u]Sam[/name_u] both sound like great sibling names for [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. I’d probably go for [name_m]Ben[/name_m] because [name_u]Sam[/name_u] can be a girl name and I don’t personally care for names that aren’t clear. I also like the [name_m]Cole[/name_m] suggestion, either on its own or short for [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m].

And if I knew that many people due with boys I would probably announce my name choice too. I don’t think you are going to get many negative comments with such classic choices. But it is a good thing to consider if you are the type of person who will be bothered if someone makes a thoughtless comment.
