My husband and I have a two year old name [name]Amelia[/name], but she is always called [name]Millie[/name]. We’re pregnant with another baby due in [name]June[/name] but won’t be finding out the sex. We’re pretty sure we have a boy’s name figured out ([name]Walter[/name]) but are stumped on girls.
We like old fashioned, classic names- they used to be unique but are really coming back in style. I don’t want a name that every other kid will have. [name]Amelia[/name] has definitely become more popular since she was born, but we’ve never met a little girl named [name]Millie[/name], and I like that. Still, it’s not a trendy “made up” name.
So the three girls names we like most right now are:
[name]Elinor[/name] (or spelled [name]Eleanor[/name], but I think we prefer the first spelling)
[name]Rosalie[/name] (my husband already wants to nickname her [name]Rosie[/name]. I love [name]Rose[/name] more, but it doesn’t go with our last name as well.)
[name]Violet[/name]
The middle name will be [name]Erin[/name], after my mother. I’d love to hear your opinions on these (but nothing negative, please) and other suggestions for a sibling name for [name]Millie[/name]! It was so easy naming her, but it’s harder this time around.
I think [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Erin[/name] would be lovely! [name]Elinor[/name] [name]Erin[/name] has a lot of similar letters and it sounds a bit awkward together. [name]Violet[/name] [name]Erin[/name] is fine, but not as beautiful as [name]Rosalie[/name].
[name]Rosalie[/name] is one of my absolute favorites! so that one gets my vote but I really love [name]Violet[/name] too and I think sisters [name]Amelia[/name] & [name]Elinor[/name] or [name]Millie[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] would be adorable so you really can’t go wrong:) other names I would consider…
[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name]- [name]Millie[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name] would be so adorable.
[name]Francesca[/name] nn [name]Franny[/name]/[name]Fancy[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] nn [name]Sue[/name]/[name]Susy[/name]
[name]Sally[/name] maybe as a nn for [name]Sarah[/name]/[name]Isaline[/name]/[name]Selena[/name]
[name]Emeline[/name] nn [name]Emme[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Erin[/name] is beautiful - although [name]Rosie[/name] isn’t really in my taste.
[name]Violet[/name] is great too - and fits well with [name]Amelia[/name]. [name]Amelia[/name] & [name]Violet[/name]. Probably the best fit, but [name]Rosalie[/name] is my fav!
[name]Elinor[/name] - I think it will probably be mistaken for the more popular spelling [name]Eleanor[/name] a lot of the time. Not a fan of the likely nn [name]Ellie[/name] either, I just know far too many. [name]Elinor[/name] [name]Erin[/name] sounds a bit awkward as a combo though, I’d leave this one if you’re set on the middle name.
[name]Rosalie[/name] - Cute and I’d go with nn [name]Rosa[/name] myself. [name]Millie[/name] and [name]Rose[/name]/[name]Rosie[/name] make a cute pairing though. [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Erin[/name] works well together.
[name]Violet[/name] - I’ve never seen the appeal in this myself, but again it works with [name]Erin[/name]. If you plan on nicknaming her, [name]Millie[/name] and [name]Lettie[/name] sound cute together.
Of those 3 names, I like [name]Violet[/name] for you guys. [name]Lettie[/name] is an adorable nn, as suggested by another [name]Berry[/name].
[name]Elinor[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name] would probably get the nn [name]Ellie[/name]. [name]Millie[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name] sound the same, so I don’t care for that sibset.
[name]Rosalie[/name] is great, but if you two can’t decide on the nn, and one doesn’t sound great with your last name, I think you should go with something else. There are other great [name]Rose[/name] names though. Have you considered [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Rosemarie[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name], etc?
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Erin[/name] ([name]Rosie[/name]/[name]Rose[/name]) is a wonderful sibling to [name]Amelia[/name] “[name]Millie[/name]”. I really like it!
I like [name]Elinor[/name], it reminds me of Sense and Sensibility where the main character is [name]Elinor[/name] Dashwood spelled like that. I do think its too close to [name]Erin[/name] though.
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Erin[/name] has the best flow. It’s very sweet.
I like
[name]Phillipa[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Pippa[/name] or [name]Pippi[/name]
[name]Virginia[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Ginny[/name]
[name]Cassandra[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Cassie[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Georgie[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Toni[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Julie[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Tavi[/name]
[name]Eugenia[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Genie[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Lottie[/name]
[name]Susan[/name] or [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Erin[/name] nn [name]Susie[/name]
[name]Elinor[/name] [name]Erin[/name] - I absolutely love [name]Elinor[/name], with that spelling. I agree, however, that the two names may be a little too similar to go well together. I also don’t think [name]Millie[/name] & [name]Ellie[/name] would be a good sibset, though [name]Millie[/name] and [name]Nora[/name]/[name]Norah[/name] are adorable together.
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Erin[/name] - It’s very sweet, and [name]Millie[/name] & [name]Rosie[/name] are very nice together
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Erin[/name] - As much as I love it, [name]Violet[/name] seems to be a bit popular right now, though sometimes it’s difficult to tell what’s popular in the real world compared with what’s popular in Berryland, lol
I would definitely agree with the suggestion of [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Erin[/name]. I think [name]Beatrice[/name] & [name]Amelia[/name] go really nicely together, has the vintage/on the edge of being rediscovered feel to it that you seem to love and it has a few really nice nicknames that would go well with [name]Millie[/name].
Thank you for the suggestions, everyone! I actually love [name]Beatrice[/name] but my husband hates it, so it’s a no go. I will definitely go over the other ones with him!
[name]Rosalie[/name] is a beautiful name but [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name]/[name]Millie[/name] are too close in sound for my liking. [name]Elinor[/name] sounds very serious next to [name]Amelia[/name] so I’m going to go for [name]Violet[/name]. [name]Amelia[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] would be a gorgeous sister duo.
