I’m due with a girl in [name_u]July[/name_u]. We have a 2 year old boy, B.e.n.n.e.t.t. J.a.m.e.s. We are stressing over the name after almost deciding on several then backing out (mostly hubby changing his mind.)
Names we both like are [name_f]Laina[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_u]Everly[/name_u], and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. We would call her [name_f]Libby[/name_f] if we went with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] due to its big popularity and I also like the NN [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] for [name_f]Laina[/name_f]. Hubby liked [name_f]Laina[/name_f] as the spelling [name_f]Lana[/name_f], but then said no after realizing what it spells backwards. I said we should toss an i in there and he thinks that’s “weird spelling.” I’d love to convince him that it’s not an unusual spelling!
He likes [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] over [name_u]Everly[/name_u], but I prefer [name_u]Everly[/name_u] over [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f], but he doesn’t like it at all. He thinks the “har” sound doesn’t fit a girl. We like [name_f]Willow[/name_f], but it was just used by a close cousin so I would feel too weird using it. Another name we both liked but mutually decided against was [name_f]Isla[/name_f].
So, any suggestions for new names based on these or what would you pick from them? What sounds good with our son’s name? We like the possible middle name [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but we aren’t stuck on it.
I like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u], and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. I don’t think [name_f]Laina[/name_f] is a weird spelling for that pronunciation. [name_f]Lana[/name_f] I would pronounce as LAH-na or LAN-ah, not [name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nuh. [name_f]Layna[/name_f] is another option.
Some other ideas: [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] nn [name_u]Laney[/name_u]…
I like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] best, followed by [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you feel about [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]? [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is very pretty. Or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]? As someone pointed out, [name_f]Lana[/name_f] and [name_f]Laina[/name_f] are pronounced differently, but if you’re open to changing things up slightly, I like [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] a lot.
I dont love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with brother being [name_m]Bennett[/name_m].
I really like [name_f]Laina[/name_f]. My MN is [name_f]Alana[/name_f] (a-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-na). [name_f]Alana[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (more traditional spelling) sounds really pretty.
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is nice too.
With [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] as big brother I like your more classic choices of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. I prefer other posters suggestion of [name_f]Elena[/name_f] or [name_f]Alana[/name_f] to get to the nickname [name_f]Lainey[/name_f].
From your list my favorites are [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] – I like [name_u]Everly[/name_u] slightly better than [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].
I do like [name_f]Libby[/name_f], on its own or as a NN for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I think all the names sound perfect with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as a MN!
I really like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] with [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]!
If you like [name_f]Lainey[/name_f], what about [name_f]Alaina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lainey[/name_f]? [name_f]Alaina[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is beautiful.
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f] is one of my favorite names. What about [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]? It has a similar feel, with out the harshness of ‘Har-’
I’m wondering if you would like:
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]/[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] would go nicely with…
[name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (lay-nah) - also a good substitute for [name_f]Lana[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Lara[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Lana[/name_f] maybe?
Hubby vetoed [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], which is when we decided we like [name_u]Everly[/name_u] since it was close (I like NN [name_f]Evie[/name_f].) And he also vetoed [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] early on.
I am trying to decide if I like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] or [name_u]Everly[/name_u] more as a first name, but hubby has said he likes [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] better. I’m not sold on [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] just because it’s so popular, but I know [name_f]Libby[/name_f] isn’t heard of as often. I forgot [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is a spelling for [name_f]Laina[/name_f], so thanks! I also love the new suggestions [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_f]Stella[/name_f]!
