Help! Need a name to honor deceased grandfather!

This will be our second child, if it is a boy we want to name him in honor of my husband’s late father. His middle name was [name]Joe[/name], so we will definitely use it for the middle name. We are struggling with the first name… his father’s favorite thing was to be in a boat or on a riverbank fishing. We would like a first name that has this as a meaning, but are at a lost for names with this meaning. Any help would be appreciated!

The frist thing that came to mind was [name]Fisher[/name] [name]Joe[/name] but that seems a little too on the nose. lol.

Have you considered names of fishes? My SO’s fathers mn is [name]Marlin[/name] and while not what I’d suggest it did inspire this idea.

Thanks y’all! @lexiem yes I was afraid [name]Fisher[/name] [name]Joe[/name] sounded like a job title :/… I like [name]River[/name]! Our daughters name is [name]Dixie[/name] [name]Mae[/name], trying to think of names that work well with that also.

[name]Even[/name] if his name was just “[name]Joe[/name]”, I prefer the full [name]Joseph[/name]. [name]Andrew[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] or [name]River[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] would be great!

I like [name]River[/name] too. Did he have a specific river he liked to fish at? If so, is the name of the river usable?

[name]River[/name] [name]Joe[/name] is cute or [name]Joseph[/name] [name]River[/name] or [name]River[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] are also cute.

I am in the same position honouring grandparents but I have 3 to honour luckily 2 have the same first name.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]River[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]. I would really recommend using [name]Joseph[/name] instead of [name]Joe[/name], it flows better with most names!
