As excited as I am that the newest royal baby is named [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]… I’m also disappointed because that was my first choice girls name! I know that I could still use it, but it was already more popular than I’d like and now I’m sure the number of little Charlottes will skyrocket!
So, I need a name to replace [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! Something at least somewhat classic, but also cute! And that will be adorable for a child but also work as an adult!
If you want to keep [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] from your signature, I really like:
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tori[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you find something you like!
There are so many classic names out there that you have a lot of options!
Sorry that your top choice is now pop culture.
I personally love [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f], and [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] because they are not really in vogue right now, but they are still recognizable and classic sounding. Plus, they all have multiple nickname options.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] was already #11 for the US so I feel like it’s popularity isn’t directly related to the new [name_f]Princess[/name_f]. I wouldn’t replace it.
But if you insist, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] immediately comes to mind since that was the second favorite (in polls) for the [name_u]Royal[/name_u] baby.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] (another feminization, cute but sophisticated, a modern classic [name_f]IMO[/name_f])
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] (making a comeback, sweet and a little mysterious)
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] (sweet, similar sound but with a [name_m]French[/name_m] vibe)
[name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] (not very common, sophisticated and you can use [name_f]Colette[/name_f] as a nn)
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] (soft and pretty, but grows up well)
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] (spunky, never very common but always in use)
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] (vintage, has a cute nn but can sound very adult as well)
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] (sweet on a baby, beautiful on a grown woman)
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (romantic, not super popular but everyone will know it)
[name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] (Italian varient of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f])
[name_f]Yvette[/name_f] (maybe a bit dated, but I can see this on a spunky toddler!)
[name_f]Carissa[/name_f] (gorgeous, I know a two yr old [name_f]Carissa[/name_f] and it totally works, but I also know an adult (early 20s) [name_f]Carissa[/name_f] and it works for her too)
[name_f]Charity[/name_f] (a sweet virtue name)
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] (similar in sound but not as classic)
Thanks for your help! I have added [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] to my list. Many of you suggested [name_f]Alice[/name_f], which is right on target- it’s been right below [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] on the list for a while!
