Our first daughter is named [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. We are now due with our second child, and trying to come up with another girl name (Team [name_u]Green[/name_u] here). We were able to come up with boy name, but a girl name is proving difficult. Due to wanting to stick with some family connections, the name that we’ve come up with is “[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]”. We are a little concerned that it sounds too close to the first. Thoughts? Cute sibset or too matchy-matchy?
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] sound awesome together! If it’s a family name then I think it’s fine to have similar middle names, as long as you’re not going to yell them often.
I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_f]Margot[/name_f] together! I do think [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are incredibly similar, but since they won’t go by their middles and it’s a family name, I say go for it if you love it. For what it’s worth, I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] would be really cute with [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] if you did decide to go a different route.
Ditto to what previous posters have said. Having matching middles is a non-issue and especially as they are honour names. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] are lovely together!
I agree with others that [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] are lovely together and the middle names don’t really matter, especially if they are honour names.
Something to consider though: if you plan on any more children, would you feel pressured to also give those children a one syllable/J name middle name?
I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Margot[/name_f] or [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is the same name as [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
Thanks for the replies. What we are trying to do is honor a grandfather who was [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]. My family often modifies honor names. My husband is not on board with [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] sadly, and I don’t think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] flows well with [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I turned to [name_m]John[/name_m], and thought [name_u]Jean[/name_u] would be a good turn of [name_m]John[/name_m]. If anyone has other suggestions for [name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_m]Otto[/name_m], I’d be thrilled to have some suggestions.
I even tried to do something to the effect of [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Tova[/name_f] - to get [name_m]Otto[/name_m] spelled out across two names.
My husband is pretty convinced this will be the last of our brood, but I don’t think we’d be wedded to doing one syllable J middle names if one did surprise us.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] already honors [name_m]John[/name_m]. It’s a feminine form of [name_m]John[/name_m] just like [name_u]Joan[/name_u] and [name_u]Jean[/name_u].
I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] works really well as [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]‘s sister - I really can’t see any problem here. I’ve known families where every child gets the exact same middle name because it’s a family name. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] are absolutely fine as sisters’ middle names.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] sound like siblings to me! [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be too similar for first names, but as middles I don’t think it’s an issue.
I love the two together. Not too matchy matchy at all and it’s a very sweet way to honor a family member. You may hate this idea, but would consider using [name_m]Otto[/name_m] as a middle name - something along the lines of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_m]Otto[/name_m] nicknamed [name_f]Margot[/name_f]? [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] or [name_f]Margaruite[/name_f] could work as well.
I absolutely love this idea, but my husband is not on board with [name_m]Otto[/name_m] at all. We have been considering [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] in lieu of [name_f]Margot[/name_f] though. The nickname options with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] are so pretty!
